About our home

We offer a three story modern townhouse on a marina in the medieval town of St Ives, 15 minutes by car from Cambridge. We have 3/4 bedrooms, study, 2.5 bathrooms, kitchen/dining, laundry and 1/2 reception rooms.

On the ground floor there is a study with desktop computer and fast, wireless internet access, a laundry room with washing machine and dryer, garage/storage, and a family room with a piano and large 42" TV/cable/Xbox. This room can also be used as a single bedroom.

On the first floor there is the main sitting room with three sofas, 32" TV with cable and a balcony which overlooks the marina and Great Ouse (river). On this floor there is also a full kitchen/diner with double oven, fridge/freezer, wine cooler, dining table and double sofa bed.

On the second floor there are three bedrooms. The main bedroom has a double bed, en-suite bathroom and large upstairs dressing area. The second bedroom has two beds and the third bedroom has a single bed. This floor also has a family bathroom.

Outside there is a small garden with driveway at the front. At the rear of the house there is mooring for a boat and access to the marina. There is also a large communal area for BBQ and games.

We also have a cleaner( Yvonne ) twice a week and we may be able to offer a car as part of the house exchange.

More about us

  1. Carin and I are both Senior High School Principals (in different high schools) and work locally in Cambridgeshire. Carin is a PhD from Gonville and Caius College Cambridge and I am currently studying for a Doctorate at Clare Hall, Cambridge. In the Summer of 2012, we shall be travelling with our two youngest children, William 14 and Andrew 12. We may also be joined by our older children but they are at University and have yet to finalize their plans for travel and work in 2012.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

St Ives is a small market town on the banks of the Great River Ouse very close to the University City of Cambridge and only 1 hr and 20 minutes by car from London. St Ives has an original medieval bridge (150 metres from our house ) and was the home of Oliver Cromwell whose army defeated Charles I in the English Civil War 1642-1646.

There is also very good public transport from St Ives to Cambridge by bus and to London by train from nearby Huntingdon.
