About our home

Beautiful Grade II listed house with outdoor heated swimming pool. 5 bed, 4 bathrooms. Would like European swop with a villa or luxury apartment within walking distance of the sea around 28th August to 5th September week. Sorry guys No UK swaps or long distance this year. We look forward to hearing from you.

Our lovely house is on the cusp of the countryside yet walking distance of picturesque city of Truro and the tranquil river walks of St. Clements (1 mile) in Cornwall. Short drive to many beaches, 3 miles to 2 golf courses, 35 mins drive to Eden Project.

Our beautiful grade II listed house offers a luxurious, comfortable and homely stay in which to explore Cornwall. It abuts an area of outstanding beauty but is within a 15 minute walk of the picturesque city of Truro. It will comfortably sleep 12 plus ample space for cots. The house has a large garden with a beautiful swimming pool, large children's tree house with zip wire, trampoline and swings and climbing frame.

Inside the house has everything for the adults: A large, sunny eat-in kitchen with 4 oven aga, an elegant drawing room with magnificent fireplace and open fire. Separate utility room and 2nd lounge/playroom. Upstairs, there are 5 double bedrooms in all: private separate family wing with 2 bedrooms; 1 double and 1 twin that share a large bathroom. Superb large, master bedroom with country views and a luxurious bathroom with freestanding bath, large shower and gilt mirrors. 1 large double room with private shower room. A smaller double room with double bed and children's bunk bed.

This is a fantastic, special house ideal for group get-togethers and families, with everything you need to enjoy a fantastic holiday. There is parking for up to 6 cars, both at the front and back of the house. See our main website. History of the house: The house was originally built in 1820 as the 'poorhouse' for unmarried mothers in Truro. In 1870 it was divided into two halves and the wings were built and the building 'grandified'. Although the house is 'attached', you would never know it. It offers complete privacy and screening from it's other half. The house is unique in that one half of it faces the countryside to St. Clement's, 'an area of outstanding beauty', but the house is still on the edge of Truro. Overall, the house has a private, countryhouse feel and once in its grounds, you could be in the middle of the country but it offers all the convenience of the beautiful, charming city of Truro and the quaint river village of St. Clement's, both within a mile.

The house is set within grounds of approx 1 acre. The garden is mature and the entrance is flagged by 2 grandiose palm trees. The garden is a mecca for adults and children alike with a great 32 x 15ft heated swimming pool set within a sun trap patio area and plenty of sun loungers and deck chairs. There is also a large wooden table to seat 10 by the 'real' barbecue area where people can cook and watch the swimming pool at the same time. The garden has a fantastic tree house, zip wire, climbing frame and trampoline for children. The heated swimming pool is gorgeous and has an outdoor toilet and small changing area. There is also a sheltered Victorian courtyard outside the kitchen door which can enclose very young children and seal them away from the pool. There is a small, secret, hidden Victorian garden in one corner of the garden full of bamboo and other Victorian plants. Surprisingly the swimming pool is a godsend on rainy days for children - as they love to swim in the rain!

Broadband internet connection. The house is probably not suitable for wheelchair access due to the kitchen being a couple of steps down from the rest of the house.

The house is also available to rent, please see our website for details. One mile from the river at St. Clements, with it's river walks and bird watching, in an area of outstanding beauty. This is good for a walk, or it's just a short bike ride away.

North coast surfing beaches:
Perranporth - 15 mins drive
Newquary - 30 mins drive.
Chapel Porth -25 min drive - National Trust beach with magnificent cliff walks.
South coast beaches for sailing/kayaking & watersports:
Loe Beach - 15 min drive.
Falmouth beaches, Gyllingvase, Swanpool and Maenporth - 30 min drive.

A lot of good restaurants are available in Truro. Lots of lovely 'bijoux' shops in both Truro and Falmouth. All banks in Truro. River pub in Malpas (5 min drive or 30 min walk).Tennis courts and local children's park in Malpas.

The walk to Truro is down hill and takes 12 minutes. Please note there is a steep hill back up to the house and a two minute cab ride home for £3.00 might be more suitable for elderly clients or after an evening out in Truro.

Two golf courses with 3 miles of the house: Truro Golf Course and Killiow Country Golf Course - both open to tourists in the Summer for a required green fee. Other golf courses worth exploring: Falmouth golf course overlooking the sea, Newquay golf course overlooking the sea. Both within a 25 minute drive of the house. Renowned St. Enedoc Golf Course in Rock, approx 40 minutes drive away. Please check internet for further information on all these golf courses.

We love pets but have two cats that would needt to be fed and that would rule out dogs.
