About our home

The flat is on the first and second floors of this Georgian building on Montagu Sq (won the Highly Commended award 2009 for Best Large Square in London). Montagu Square's most famous resident of modern times was Ringo Star, but the sqaure has rather more romantic origins. The square was named after Mrs Elizabeth Montagu of nearby Montagu House in Portman Square, now demolished. She is remembered for her literary Blue Stocking Society and the annual May Day party for chimney-climbing boys. Roast beef and plum pudding were served and a shilling given to every boy. The square is of Brick Houses designed by David Parkinson and built by David Porter in 1811. Legend has it that Porter, who started life as a chimney boy, had an affair with the bluestocking Lady Montagu and named it after her.

The lower floor consists of a fully fitted, modern kitchen, WC and a dining/sitting room with very high ceilings. This room spans the width of the building and opens onto balcony overlooking the square. The upper floor consists of large master bedroom with 4 poster bad + en suite. A second bedroom sleeps 2 (double or single beds) and a second WC/Shower room.

Outside the main flat, but insude the building we also have an small two floor annexe with a single bed on the upper floor. The annexe also has its own shower/WC and TV.

The flat comes with a key to the communal gardens that are Montagu Square.

The flat is cleaned once a week but additional work can be done by arrangement.
