We live in Urmston which is only 4 miles from Manchester city centre - buses and the local train station are only a few minutes walk away. Urmston is a small town/village with plenty of restaurants, bars, cafes, shops and a supermarket.

There is lots to do and see in Manchester with plentiful shops, cafes and restaurants and around such as:

Old Trafford - if you like football and Manchester United you have to visit here
Manchester art galleries
Imperial War Museum North

Urmston where our house is situated is a small town with bars, shops and restaurants and supermarket, library etc and plenty of parks and walks just a minute behind the house which follow the River Mersey. Other nice nearby areas to visit include Didsbury and Altrincham all easily reached.

We also live a 20 minute walk (or short bus/car ride) from the Trafford Centre - a huge shopping mall and around there is a indoor ski centre, trampoline park, golf driving range and the biggest children's indoor play area with slides in Europe! A local swimming pool is a short walk away and there is a fantastic aquatic centre in Manchester nearby.

Other areas to visit:

Country parks such as Lyme Park and Dunham Massey

We also live a short train ride away from Liverpool which is the home of the Beatles and Roman city Chester. The famous seaside resort of Blackpool is around an hour and a half by car or train.

Central London is two hours away on the fast train from Manchester Piccadilly

If you have a car the Lake District, North Wales villages and beaches and the Peak District are all close by.
