About our home

This cosy cottage with multi fuel stove and patio garden is ideal for a holiday at any time of year. Situated midway between Brough and Kirkby Stephen, the lakes, Dales and Eden Valley are all close enough to explore.
Winton is a pretty village with most of the properties built around the village green and traditional pub in the centre of the village. Ideally located to explore the Dales, the Lake District and Eden Valley, Winton is located midway between Brough and the market town of Kirkby Stephen and is on the Coast to Coast Walking route.
Rook Cottage is a newly refurbished, stone, terraced cottage that provides ideal accommodation for couples or up to four people who will appreciate the cosy ambience the cottage provides. With a welcoming multi fuel stove the lounge is the place to cuddle up in on a chilly evening and the patio style garden is the ideal retreat to enjoy a glass of wine before dinner, all making this cottage an ideal all year round holiday accommodation.

More about us

  1. We're a family of 4, 2 students and 2 adults. 1 big black labrador.

  2. We love taking the dog out on long walks.

  3. There's nothing better than cuddling up on the sofa watching a trashy film and a warm bowl of soup on a cold day.

Buzzy restaurants
Pub in the village is beautiful, 5* restaurants 5 mins away in Kirby Stephen.
Cool bars
Not many bars close, but there is a pub to every village.
Cozy cafés
The church gallery is a lovely self-service coffee and cake experience. Lovely place to wind down and relax.
Retail therapy
Few shops in Kirby Stephen but all main shops can be found in Penrith or Kendal.
Bit of culture
On the coast to coast route, beautiful walks up Warcop Fell. Horse riding available in Brough and Light water rafting and all watersports can be arranged in Kendal and Penrith.
Walks in the park
You can make your own walks or do some ones that have been laid out. There are maps available in the cottage, with walks marked out.
Spot of exercise
Loads to do, find the time to do it all.
Day tripping
I would recommend a day trip into the Pennines as they are a beautiful sight but there is so much to do that is close.
