About our home

Our beautiful farmhouse was designed by the renowned architect John Douglas. It is a half timbered, sandstone house built around a cobbled courtyard and surrounded by 250 acres of national trust woodlands and heath. The surrounding paddocks are home to several horses and you are welcome to help yourself to the eggs laid each day by our chickens.

The beautiful beaches of the west Wirral coast are just a 5 minute drive away as is the Royal Liverpool Golf Course (venue for The Open 2014) and several other excellent courses. The area also boasts some of the best horse riding and walking in the region and is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty and an area of special scientific interest. Locally there are buzzards, falcons, woodpeckers, foxes, owls, bats, bagjers and even a local seal colony at Hilbre Island.

Just a short walk away is the 5 star Hillbark Hotel complete with its spa and 3 restaurants. There are 3 other country pub/restaurants within easy walking distance of our home.

The historic city of Chester with its Roman amphitheatre and city walls is just a 30 minute drive away and the magnificent city of Liverpool is just 20 minutes drive.
