About our home

We feel privileged to live in this historic house. We moved in 3 years ago and are gradually modernising and making it feel like home.

It was built in 1720 and the main part of the house retains some period features, like a working bell in the living room and meat hooks and flagstones in the snug. You enter via the traditional farmhouse kitchen which has an AGA (this is usually off in the summer months), oven, ceramic hob, microwave fridge and freezer. A cellar leads off it as another area to keep your drinks cool.

Downstairs also has a large living room with open fireplace (includes TV and skybox plus DVD player and XBox One S, a snug with wood-burning stove (smaller TV and DVD in cupboard) and a stunning large dining room (seats 10-12 with oak table extended and includes stereo) with wood-burning stove. There is also a boot room (place to hang your coats), large utility room with washer and dryer, and downstairs toilet with large shower as well.

First floor - large guest bathroom with underfloor heating, antique chandelier, roll top bath and large shower. Master bedroom with superking bed and en suite with underfloor heating, his and hers basins and high level toilet. Bedroom 2 - double bedroom. Bedroom 3 - bunk bed room with good floor space.

Second floor includes bedroom 4 with kingsize bed and bedroom 5 with double bed and also used as a playroom if wanted.

Workshop includes children's and adult bikes with helmets if discussed in advance.

The garden is 1 acre over various aspects and has a swing and large trampoline as well as large vegetable bed and greenhouse plus mature fruit trees. We live next to a farm which is mostly arable but has a small herd of cattle which small children may enjoy!

Parking - large gravel drive or garage with table tennis table.

More about us

  1. My husband and I are both doctors aged 40. We have 2 children aged 9 and 11. We also have 3 cats, Brian, Luna and Flo who are very playful and cuddly (if this is a problem they can go to a cat hotel for your visit!)

We completed our first successful swaps last year to Holland and Italy, and have just returned from Sicily - just loved it - we are very excited about exploring new areas of the world.

We are initially looking for European/ UK swaps but are open to almost anything! At the moment we are limited to UK school holidays for availability.

The children love swimming at beaches or lakes and we love visiting museums/ art galleries as well as local restaurants. We are very relaxed so you won't find us up early!

We are happy to look after chickens/ cats if you have any.

  2. We also love to ski and would love to swap for a skiing location.

We are also open to swapping to somewhere coastal in the UK - Wales, East Anglia or the South Coast
