About our home

Our lovely cottage was built in 1900 and was completely renovated and extended in 2017. It has flexible, warm and welcoming accommodation.

Downstairs there is accessible accommodation which is suitable for guests with limited mobility or disabilities. The floors are all flagstone with underfloor heating which means that it is warm under foot in winter and cool in summer. The shower room has a seat in the shower and a raised WC. Adjoining this is a utility room with washing machine and dryer and a spare freezer as well as drying racks on the wall which can be removed and hung outside in sunny weather. The twin bedroom has adjustable beds and a TV. The well equipped kitchen is the hub of the house and is where I spend most of my time baking and chatting with friends and family. There is a sofa at one end which looks out onto the garden. The cosy sitting room has wood burning stove and TV. There is also a craft room downstairs for anyone with artistic tendencies to escape to!

The bifold doors in the kitchen open fully out onto the beautiful enclosed patio and south facing garden. The patio has a large table and benches for outside dining and a garden seat. There are strings of light bulbs above the patio which are a lovely addition on warm summer evenings as the light fades.. There is a swing seat at the end of the garden and a table and chairs to catch the evening sun. The specially designed garden has variety and colour all year and there are fruit trees, raised beds and a fruit cage. The pretty front garden is walled and is a delight all year. There is a drive which takes two cars.

The garden room, across the patio from the kitchen, is fully insulated and provides accommodation for two people with a pull out sofa/day bed. There is also a portable, fold out, single bed which could be used in the garden room or as a spare bed in the master bedroom. There is also a sofa, a small dining table and chairs, a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.

Upstairs there are a further two double bedrooms. The master bedroom has a vaulted beamed ceiling with a velux window above the bed to view the clouds and stars, and there is a lovely large arched window and a seating area. There is a large, airy, family bathroom with bath and over bath shower and a velux window in the vaulted beamed ceiling.
The house is right next to a bus stop with buses leaving for Oxford ( 5 miles ) every half an hour. In the other direction, on the same bus route, stunning Blenheim Palace and Woodstock are just 3 miles away. The village of Yarnton is situated at the gateway to the Cotswolds. Oxford Parkway station is a couple of miles away with regular trains to London.
I am happy to discuss dates and adjust these around the respite care I provide at home as I have somewhere I can stay locally and be on hand for any queries and advice. If you have any questions please just ask!
Because I have disabled guests and parents staying from time to time I can provide a commode and toilet frame if required. It's a great place to bring elderly relatives. For younger family members, I am happy to source a cot etc. if required.
