Our home is built in the Southwestern Territorial Style with lots of windows to take advantage of that famous New Mexico sunlight. We enjoy art so the walls are a showcase for our collection.
The house is single level but there is a separate downstairs apartment with its own entry from the back garden. This makes it very comfortable for 2 couples to share this property.
The house has a spacious back deck overlooking our lush garden area surrounded by tall trees. The deck includes an eating area, a hot tub and grill.
We are avid cyclists and so the garage is well equipped with a variety of both road and mountain bikes. There are a number of interesting cycling trails both in and around the city and the Sandia Mountains offer challenging off-road riding for the more adventuresome cyclists.
I (Donna) am an engineer with Intel and my husband, Don, is a geography professor at the University of New Mexico. We love to travel and plan at least 1 international cycling tour each year. Over our working careers we have lived and worked in a number of international locations (France, Quebec, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia) and continue to actively seek opportunities for travel that offer deeper experiences than available for the run of the mill tour.
While we love to travel we also place a great deal of value on our home and its contents. In an exchange we would take loving care of your property.
We have a very sweet but self sufficient cat named Gentil and therefore could not accommodate non-human guests.
Our home is located in one of the older established neighborhoods of Albuquerque with lots of older trees, parks, quiet streets--perfect for walking and strolling.
We are located just over 1km from the area known as Nob Hill, a trendy art deco shopping area built along the historic Route 66. There you'll find interesting boutiques, cafes, coffee shops, antiques, grocery store and even a classic cinema.
The Sunport, Albuquerque's international airport, is within easy reach. Albuquerque's historical plaza area known as "Old Town" is also within a short drive. Indian Pueblos, Santa Fe (the state capital and world famous as the 'City Different'), camping, hiking and fishing are all part of the enchantment of New Mexico. And don't forget that the first 2 weekends of October Albuquerque hosts an international hot air balloon festival. 700+ balloons invade our city and fill the skies with splashes of color.
