About our home

Contemporary cozy home (on 5 acres), decorated in mission style. Very comfortable, deck, lots of windows to enjoy the view of woods and stream, garden. Stream makes a sweet and relaxing sound. Great kitchen and hanging out area, living room and dining room all one, piano and lots of music stands. Den with TV and many comfy seats and DVD's to please all ages! Shelves loaded with books, good music. Spiral stairs to second floor balcony/walkway. Master bedroom at one end (sometimes rented) - three bedrooms at other end of hall with bath. Basement with ping pong table, craft area and playroom, (now teen using at as her bedroom, colorful walls, posters etc. In fact whole house has interesting rich color on walls and furnishings. Stone patio entrance with old fashioned glider. Fireplace inside if its chilly. Clay fireplace on deck, and place for campfire away from the house. Also has swing set, trampoline, tree house.

Beautiful New England woodland with small farms. In the neighborhood there is wonderful walking on country roads (very little traffic) or through woodland trails. Beautiful streams and reservoir. Good biking, hiking, walking. Houses but not close together. Amherst is only 8 minutes to drive. There are 5 colleges in this area - rather a mecca of culture and activity any time of the year. Great cafe's, book stores, movie theater. Wonderful day trips all around, very New England. Vermont is 45 min drive. Boston is 1.5 hours, New York City is 3 hours. There is a train station in town. We've lived here 15 years and I think of doing a bed and breakfast in the house as my children vacate their rooms. Its really a nice area. You'll love seeing the Northeast U.S. from here as a base.

My two daughters (19 and 13) and I live here with a student renter during the school year. We have a dog and two cats. This has been our home for 16 years and we love it in all the seasons. My older daughter has been to Ecuador twice and Spain. She goes to school in New Jersey majoring in International Relations and minoring in Spanish. My younger daughter really wants to travel the world, and she loves music. She attends a performing arts school This summer she wants to go to Nova Scotia, maybe learning to play Cape Breton Fiddle. She always talks about going to Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii... I spent time working in East Africa with my former husband before we settled down. I have also travelled to Israel and Greece. I am a speech therapist. And I love to make scrapbooks when I have the chance.
