“David and Terri have a beautiful home in a vey scenic neighborhood on a hill overlooking the salt water bay. The view is lovely, the proximity to the restaurants and bars in the charming "downtown" area and to the ferry to the San Juan Islands was perfect and Dave and Terri were incredible and gracious hosts. They are both warm, wonderful people who went out of their way to make us feel very welcome. We genuinely enjoyed meeting them and highly recommend their beautiful home and the very memorable Anacortes experience. We loved everything about our trip! Scott and Micheline”
“5 étoiles: - Belle grande maison, très propre. - Beaucoup d'activités à faire dans les alentours. - Des hôtes charmants et généreux. Merci Terri et Dave pour cette magnifique expérience!!”
“I recently had the pleasure of staying at Dave and Terri's wonderful house in Anacortes. Located in a gorgeous, peaceful neighborhood, the home is a perfect retreat! Great layout, in perfect shape, and very spacious. The view off the large deck is breathtaking. Anacortes is superbly located to see so many of the beautiful San Juan Islands (including tiny Guemes Island that we biked on)--and the terrain around their home itself and headed south to Deception Pass is also stunning. Best of all is the couple themselves... we were able to spend time with them on their Sailboat, get to know them and have become friends, and will see them again... truly cool people. A perfect example of what makes home exchanging such a great life experience.”
“When Terri and Dave first contacted us many months ago we had never heard of Anacortes, nor did we know very much about Washington State. But after viewing the photos and video on their listing and doing a little research, we came to the conclusion that an exchange with them would be perfect to combine with two others in Canada which were already in the pipeline. Their comfortable and spacious house is beautifully decorated with lovely views to the marina and islands. And Anacortes was an absolute delight; an excellent location for exploring the amazing San Juan Islands and Vancouver Island by ferry, and other beautiful areas in Washington State. Our exchange coincided with the annual Arts Festival which kept us happily occupied for the best part of a day whilst the twice-weekly open-air market was great for fresh food and entertainment. We completely overdosed on cherries and raspberries! Our exchange with Terri and Dave was organised with ease as they were conscientious and frequent communicators. They did everything they could to make our trip enjoyable and unforgettable and provided much information on their home and the local area. On our arrival they cooked dinner for us…. delicious fresh local salmon – Dave’s specialty… and the next day they very kindly took us out on their sailing boat around the San Juan Islands. Additionally, they took great care of our home .. what more could you wish for? We would have no hesitation in recommending Anacortes as a destination and Terri and Dave as perfect exchangers. Thanks to both of you.”
Where is it?
Anacortes is located on Fidalgo Island and has easy bridge access from the freeway. Our neighborhood has its own private beaches, club houses, tennis courts, and parks. Nearby is beautiful Washington Park where walkers and bikers can enjoy the views of the sea, islands, and huge cedar trees. Deer are always wandering through the neighborhoods and a variety of birds (Bald Eagles, Cormorants, Hawks, Quail, and Blue Herons) fly by our windows. A short five minute drive into the center of town takes you to numerous shops, restaurants and waterfront walking trails. There's a public market every Saturday, and the marina has free concerts every Friday night. Good crabbing, fishing and whale-watching nearby. The city of Anacortes has numerous art, music, and cultural activities throughout the year. Other nearby parks offer additional hiking and sight-seeing. Deception Pass is just 10 minutes away. Seattle is about 90 minutes away and Vancouver, B.C. is about 2 hours. Take a ferry (located just down the street) and explore the nearby San Juan Islands, or visit Victoria, Sidney, and Buchart Gardens in British Columbia.
The San Juan Islands were rated one of the top vacation destinations by National Geographic and New York Times for 2011! http://travel.nationalgeographic.com/travel/best-trips-summer-2011-photos/ For more information about outdoor activities or cultural events visit this website: http://www.experiencewa.com/cities/anacortes.aspx#id=657&tab=1088, and for the San Juans: http://www.visitsanjuans.com/
