About our home

Located on Fidalgo Island, our newly remodeled Anacortes home has an outstanding view of Rosario Strait and Burrows Island. An open floor plan maximizes the view of the sea and sunsets. The interior has been completely upgraded with new carpet, tile, appliances, woodwork and paint. The yard is fully landscaped, and deer and rabbits stop by daily to graze.

We also have a 36' sailboat equipped with a kayak and dingy. It may be possible to take you sailing with us or get you set up to go crabbing or kayaking if you have the inclination. This is also a very popular area for biking and hiking. We prefer non-simultaneous exchanges. The best time to come is May - September when the weather is beautiful, and we can stay on our boat.

More about us

  1. We are retired educators who enjoy art, music, sailing, traveling, tennis, and hiking. Dave likes to pursue his interest in sculpting (bronze and wood carving) and genealogy. Terri worked in Highly Capable Student Programs, and she loves to read and enjoy the outdoors. We have two grown sons in Seattle and Bend, Oregon. In the summer we spend most of our time on our sailboat exploring some of the best cruising areas in the world. Dave is an experienced sailor having raced and delivered sailboats across the Pacific.

Where is it?

Anacortes is located on Fidalgo Island and has easy bridge access from the freeway. Our neighborhood has its own private beaches, club houses, tennis courts, and parks. Nearby is beautiful Washington Park where walkers and bikers can enjoy the views of the sea, islands, and huge cedar trees. Deer are always wandering through the neighborhoods and a variety of birds (Bald Eagles, Cormorants, Hawks, Quail, and Blue Herons) fly by our windows. A short five minute drive into the center of town takes you to numerous shops, restaurants and waterfront walking trails. There's a public market every Saturday, and the marina has free concerts every Friday night. Good crabbing, fishing and whale-watching nearby. The city of Anacortes has numerous art, music, and cultural activities throughout the year. Other nearby parks offer additional hiking and sight-seeing. Deception Pass is just 10 minutes away. Seattle is about 90 minutes away and Vancouver, B.C. is about 2 hours. Take a ferry (located just down the street) and explore the nearby San Juan Islands, or visit Victoria, Sidney, and Buchart Gardens in British Columbia.

The San Juan Islands were rated one of the top vacation destinations by National Geographic and New York Times for 2011! For more information about outdoor activities or cultural events visit this website:, and for the San Juans:
