About our home

Modern house, built in 1994; 1950 sq. ft. on 6 acres country setting, Frank Lloyd Wright - inspired design. Hipped roofs and clerestory. Nine miles from the coast. Views of Santa Cruz mountains, rolling site surrounded by coast live oaks with open meadow, watch hawks and swallows by day and listen to owls by night, great for stars and meteor shower viewing. Kids can sleep on the deck if they like. Complete and utter privacy, sanctuary feeling. Quiet. Great place to relax and be a kid again.

Barbecue natural gas on deck, and modern kitchen. Two large bathtubs, one recessed. Views from many windows. Many huge glu-lam beams throughout house. Skylights, high ceilings, loft/view library for the adventurous...Master bedroom on split upper level, with bath, closet, deck. DSL in one bedroom used as internet access. Wireless works within 80' of house. GFI outlets in garden for laptops or espresso maker.

Landscape architect's own garden, bench swing hung in an old oak, many overlook benches on property, Mediterranean court and fountain, hummingbirds. Two Arabian horses, one thoroughbred. Fenced and separate pastures. Dog yard for large dog ( I have a greyhound).

Woodstove and central heating; no air conditioning needed as fog is sometimes around in summer, morning and evening. Generally this is a wonderful property for being outside, not super hot, not freezing with fog, warmer than San Francisco or Santa Cruz.

Watch small planes overhead from nearby Watsonville and San Martin airports. Trains go by in the town of Aromas. Corner markets/fuel in Aromas with barbecue on Fridays, and a restaurant.

River Run winery in town, nearby excellent wineries: De Rose; Challone, 1.5 hrs; Bonny Doon, 1/2 hr., Paso Robles wineries 1 hr 40 min. Monterey 35 min. to Monterey Bay Aquarium. 20 min. to Moss Landing /Phil's Fish Market/restaurant. 25 min. east to San Juan Bautista, antiqueshopping/events and historic Mission town.

(continued from above) - - - 4 hrs to Santa Barbara.

Major shopping: Gilroy 20 min, Aptos 20 min, Santa Cruz 30 min; Watsonville 15 min.

Nearby Elkhorn Slough for kayaking, bird watching. On-site birding include many hawks, Western cardinals, finches, woodpeckers, thrashers, swallows, doves, wild turkeys.

Great road and mountain bicycling area.

Some dogs allowed on approval. Cats not ok as older cats live here. Horses welcome.

No smoking anywhere on property, fire hazard.

Photos available. Serious inquiries only please.

I speak a bit of Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, French.

The house is oriented to capture the views. House is modern inside, spacious and airy. Many picture windows and also 'Romeo and Juliet' swing open-type windows, and screened uppers above eye level so no view impeded by screens, but breezes can come in.

Hilly tiny town of Aromas is quiet and beautiful. Has one stop sign, no traffic lights. Two small corner stores in town.

Beautiful views of Santa Cruz mountains, Pajaro Valley farmland and Coast Live Oaks on the rolling property. Double garage for use under the house, hidden. House built into the side of a hill. Nice deck for viewing and relaxing with views to mountains. No other houses can be seen from the house. Horse paddocks hidden from the house.

1 hr 30 min to San Francisco downtown. 30 min to Santa Cruz.

House designed by Terri L.N. FIsher architect, Santa Cruz CA.

I am a landscape architect doing mostly residential work in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. I speak some Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, and a tiny bit of French. I have a great love of gardens and plants, and 'scultping' the dreams of my clients into a wonderful healing garden drawing upon historic motifs when appropriate, modern ideas other times.

The parks nearby are fantastic (Henry Coe Park, 80,000 acres 30 min away). I run with my horses there, as well as ride mountain bikes somtimes with mysignificant other who is a big bicyclist. Used to do endurance horse riding now do trail and running/hiking.
