About our home

New solar home near Taos Skiing with Artist Studio
We live 13 miles from the fascinating town of Taos, and 12 miles from the world famous Taos Ski Valley. We built this home in 2009 and it is warm and full of sunshine. We have 1 small bedroom, one larger bedroom, a comfortable painting studio, and a full bath upstairs. If you wish, you are free to use the studio. Downstairs has a kitchen, and living room with an open floor plan. Also an entry way, and half-bath downstairs. There is an east balcony to view the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the southern end of the Rocky mountains, and a western balcony to look out at the western mesas and sunsets. The access to our home in the winter requires a 4 wheel drive vehicle, which we can exchange, and a comfort with winter mountain driving. We have a courtyard with a fireplace and fountain. The neighborhood is quiet, beautiful, safe and private.

Our home is a new passive and active solar home with lovely views of the mountains and mesas of this area. We have 1800 square feet. The home is warm and full of light. We have saltillo tiles, an open floor plan, and a functioning painting studio. There is a herd of mule deer that we see daily in the yard throughout the winter and often see coyotes and other wildlife. We are 4 miles from the charming village of Arroyo Seco with a wonderful coffee shop, restaurants, shops and galleries.

More about us

  1. Ted is a watercolor artist, who has retired from teaching art at the University of Maine several years ago, before we moved to Taos. Check out his work at

  2. Peggy has just retired from working as an RN in Home Health/Hospice. She loves to garden, meditate, hike, bike, travel, explore and spend time with the grandkids.

  3. We are interested in trading our home during the ski season for some place warm, perhaps near an ocean.
