About our home

Executive home of red brick with stone accents and well landscaped yard is located in a premier master-planned community with 1,600 acres of rolling hills and 400 acres of parks. The amenities of the neighborhood include a 5.000 SF community center with workout room, playgrounds, meeting room, lap pool and leisure pool (summer competition swim team), walking and biking trails and greenbelts. The one-story house features energy saving design, air conditioning, automatic cooling and heating controls, burglar alarm system, insulated windows with plantation shutters throughout, tile floors (carpet in bedrooms and closets only), large spacious rooms, 550 SF of covered outdoor living space with two ceiling fans, gas grille with rotisserie, wine refrigerator and sink, gourmet kitchen with stone arch over stainless steel stove with two ovens, grille and griddle and pasta pot water valve. Kitchen has stainless steel refrigerator with ice cube maker, water and ice on the door, dishwasher, disposal, and wall oven with microwave. The back and side yards are spacious with around 20 trees, 7 live oak, two fruit trees, 1 magnolia and 13 crepe myrtles that bloom all summer. Two hammocks from Yucatan swing beneath the shade of the live oak trees. The four car garage has room for 3 cars and plenty of storage and hobby space. The lawn has automatic sprinklers and is maintained by an excellent gardener.

This upper middle class neighborhood is composed of a nice mix of young professional families, older working families who may not want to retire even though eligible and retired couples. People who live here are from Texas, California, Indiana, Wisconsin, Florida, New York, New Jersey, India, Finland and all over. They come here for the abundant sunshine, mostly dry air, comfortable winters, to be near their children, for the business opportunities of the state and its three cities among the top ten largest cities in the U.S. which are within 3 hours (Dallas, Houston and San Antonio).

We love the friendliness of the neighborhood, the quiet and natural beauty of the rural area, yet the proximity to shopping, restaurants and food store. There is a winery with a tratorria, an outstanding barbecue place, a very good country pub and a brand new diner.

My wife is a registered nurse who has spent her working career in the operating room, first as a surgical technologist, then first assist and perioperative nurse. She is devoted to the care of her patients for the short time she is with them. She is equally devoted to her family and pet, a 4 year old Cavachon, hybrid of Bichon Frise and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She is allergic to cats. Depending on the length of our vacation, we would bring our dog, who is a companion dog, with us. If it is a short vacation, he would stay home. She speaks English with a small amount of Spanish. She grew up raising and training horses and competing in barrel racing up to the national level in high school rodeo. Her interests include working out, water exercise and gardening.

I am an architect. I have specialized in aquatic consulting and swimming pool design since 1989. In 1994-95, I designed the pools for the Atlanta Olympic Games. Prior to that I was in general practice, designed passive solar, underground and adobe homes in New Mexico. I enjoy walking, tennis, bicycling and swimming.
