About our home
The cathedral ceiling home with library is furnished with antiques and sits in a forest yet is minutes from downtown. The kitchen with granite counters with bar is part of the open space with the living/dining room. The balcony above gives a loft like feeling. The lot is large by city standards and very private. We are located in South Austin where the many restaurants are humorous and often venues for the legendary music scene here in the Capitol of Texas. A spring fed pool and large park with botanical garden are nearby, as is the "hike and bike" trail along the river so popular also with joggers. The cultural life of Austin is non-stop. Keep Austin Weird is the official motto so if you are looking for someplace in the south with a lot of character, this could be your town.
The house is part of a cul de sac of 4 houses on a quiet street in a green, hilly neighborhood with extraordinary trees. Buses run downtown from a stop nearby but car exchange is possible; biking here is good for an American city as there are many trails, bike/pedestrian bridges, and quiet residential streets. Our neighbors are wonderful, open people with whom get together, a young international family, an older couple relocated from California, a young single woman. There is music in numerous venues in Austin every night of the week, all kinds of music. The local cinema serves drinks and food and the waiters are completely discrete! There's an Imax, museums, the University of Texas, the famous Capitol building, the surrounding beautiful hill country with Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and the LBJ Ranch.
We are two artists, dancer/choreographer and filmmaker/composer, former New Yorkers with 6 years recently in Amsterdam. We speak and write French and Dutch as well as English.
