Our house is cozy but spacious and has the feel of a large luxury cabin. There's a large gourmet kitchen with gas stove, farm sink and huge pantry, an outdoor grill and patio, master bedroom with king bed and fireplace, master bath with large open shower, two additional bedrooms with a full bed and twin, hall bath with double sinks and tub.
Our brand new home is located in in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains just outside the famous village of Woodstock, NY. We live in a very charming and beautiful area, lushly forested and just a mile walk to a beautiful lake.
Woodstock is a classic American small town that's both historic and trendy. The village is lined with quaint boutiques, yoga studios, antique shops, book stores, juice bars, organic grocers and casual and fine dining options.
Woodstock, famous for the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival that defined a generation and modern rock-n-roll, still attracts musicians and artists from around the world. Bob Dylan lived here during the height of his career and today you might see residents David Bowie or the actress Uma Thurman in the local bakery.
For art lovers, there are many galleries plus every kind of art class and workshop being offered. OPUS 40 sculpture Park and Museum is a must-see. There is also an art house movie theater and several theater groups offering everything from Shakespeare to musical theater. For live-music, the famous Bearsville Theatre is less than a mile walk from our house - it's a small but outstanding venue that brings an array of bands and singer/songwriter talents.
If you are interested in outdoor pursuits, there is great hiking in the Catskills, kayaking or canoeing on the Hudson River and biking trails all over the Hudson Valley. World-class rock climbing in the Shawanagunk Range is just a 45-minute drive south in the town of New Paltz. In the winter, both downhill and cross-country skiing is only 30 minutes away at Belleayre or Hunter Mountains.
We would really like to swap this Sept. or Oct. and can't recommend autumn enough is the best time to visit New York. The colors of the fall foliage are beautiful, and pumpkin, squash and apple picking make for wonderful farm excursions and meals. Long drives around the Hudson River Valley offer incredible views and wonderful walking, shopping and dining in nearby towns of Rhinebeck, Saugerties and New Paltz. We will supply you with activity and restaurant recommendations to help you get the most out of your visit!
New York City is just a 1.5 hour drive by car or 2.5 hours by bus or train. You can catch the bus to NYC right in the village of Woodstock.
