Our home is a large and comfortable Mediterranean-style structure, with views of the bay, bridge, downtown Oakland, and the campanile on the University of California campus. Our home is located in north Berkeley within easy walking distance to the gourmet ghetto and university campus. In addition to living room with fireplace and formal dining room, both with wood floors and built-ins cupboards, it has 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a lovely sun room with French doors to a large and sunny patio. The kitchen has been updated, and is amply supplied with appliances and gadgets. Our large terraced garden and patio have views of the surrounding areas and can be used year round.
Berkeley has an abundance of bookshops, cafes, outstanding restaurants and a world famous university. Public transportation (the BART) makes it easy to get to San Francisco and all of the attractions of the bay area. Berkeley prides itself on a “small town” feeling – local coffee shops abound, people stroll and ride bikes through town, and a Farmers’ Market is held every Thursday near the library and Senior Center, both of which serve as social hubs. Golf, tennis, horseback riding, and skateboarding are available locally, as are parks, playgrounds, and swimming pools. Our neighborhood is residential; the Berkeley rose garden with a playground and tennis courts is a short walk away.
Additional pictures of our house and neighborhood can be found at: www.GalvinFamily.org
We have two bicycles and a 2-person kayak available.
Use of a car can be arranged.
This is a non-smoking exchange.
We are recently retired community college teachers in our early sixties who have been traveling widely for the last 35 years. Our 10 exchanges (5 in Europe and 5 within the US) have been extremely successful, as well as great fun. We will take excellent care of your home.
