About our home

Although Bozeman might be relatively unknown, if you love the outdoors, grand expanses of country with 9000’ mountains rising dramatically from the plains, you’re sure to love it. And if the scenery alone isn’t enough, with easy access to two of the best and most popular US National Parks, Bozeman and vicinity boasts some of the world's best hiking, biking, skiing, rafting and fly fishing to keep you fully occupied. It’s a place to relax, enjoy the fresh air, and forget the rush and hassle of big cities.

And whilst Bozeman with its population of around 40,000 or so may not have the bright lights and frenzied activity of big cities, it has much of the activity and infrastructure you’d only expect to find in much bigger cities, but with a laid back air and iconic Western atmosphere.

Unlike so many towns and cities in the US, Bozeman’s charming Downtown is neat, tidy, full of life and almost devoid of boring chain stores and franchised food outlets. OK it’s just basically one long street (albeit with a large number of historic buildings) but along its expanse, you’ll find galleries, outdoor clothes outfitters, independent bookshops, specialist shops, coffee shops, a swag of restaurants, wine bars, plus a brewery or two. And NO franchise establishments like Starbucks, McDonalds etc. in the main street. And at night, there’s lots of bars, restaurants and breweries to investigate, many with live music, each with their own unique character.

Our townhouse of approx. 180 sq.m. is located in a relatively new housing estate, just 5 min. walk to the nearest supermarket and local shops and about 25 mins. walk (or 5 mins. drive) to downtown Bozeman.

Three bedrooms (two with queen beds and one with twin beds) provide sleeping for 6. On the ground floor, there’s an open plan living /dining/kitchen area, bedroom with twin beds, bathroom and laundry. The kitchen was upgraded in 2014 with granite countertops and white gloss cabinetry.

Upstairs you’ll find the large main bedroom with small balcony, bathroom and writing desk, a 2nd bedroom with lovely views of the rising sun, a TV room/lounge area and a compact office alcove, with a serene outlook to the mountains.

Out the back, there’s an attached 2 car garage and paved patio overlooking the veggie garden.

All the furniture is only a few years old and since it's our 2nd home, it isn't filled with a lot of personal 'clutter' so you won’t feel you're intruding on our personal space.

We have small vegetable garden that might provide you with some fresh veggies and raspberries, and a small lawn area that might need a bit of mowing (with either an electric or push mower).

For outdoor adventures, you're welcome to use our 2 mountain bikes (although not very new), inflatable kayak and camping equipment.

Between April and November, we are happy to consider home swaps anywhere in the world, remote locations or cities, but prefer 3 to 4 week periods if outside the US.

From late Nov to early April, the house is normally vacant, and available for non-simultaneous exchange if you like to go skiing. (Big Sky/Moonlight Basin ski resort is just 1 hour away and Bridger ski area 25 mins. away). Both operate lost cost bus transport from downtown Bozeman in the ski season.

Although we are new to Lovehomeswap we have been active members of Homeexchange.com with over 18 swaps in the last 5 years, mainly in Europe.

More about us

  1. I'm an Australian who owns a US based business but loves traveling to offbeat places. Generally I'm the sole traveler but sometimes my wife comes as well.

  2. About half the year I spend in Melbourne Aust. where we have our main home and where our two married daughters live.

  3. I love mountains and places with grand vistas, but don't have much interest in beach resorts..... sorry.

Where is it?

Whilst downtown Bozeman has a lot to offer in itsehttps://www.lovehomeswap.com/home-exchange/united-states/bozeman-outdoor-getaway-just-90mins-to-yellowstone-nplf including a world class dinosaur museum and one of only two computer museums in the US, its the outdoor activities that make it so special. Fancy tubing down the Madison River, white water rafting down the Gallatin River, an early morning balloon trip over the mountains, ziplining across a canyon, mountain bike riding, fly fishing, a game or two of tennis, kayaking or paddling in a mountain lake, or even lazing at the Bozeman 'beach', its all at your doorstep.

Make day trips to Yellowstone national park, take the magnificent Beartooth Highway over an 11,000' pass, visit the Lewis & Clarke caves, enjoy a day out at the quaint Western town of Livingstone and the excellent railway museum and much more.... its all just a short drive away.

If visiting historical sights is more your thing, you can make easy days trips to the old gold mining town of Virginia City, Butte which once had the richest copper mine in the world and still has a well preserved Victorian uptown business district with stately mansions, Great Falls with its excellent Lewis & Clarke Discovery Center and C. M. Russell Art Gallery, or just half an hour away to the spot where the famous explorers Lewis & Clarke correctly determined to be the start of the great Missouri River.
