About our home

Our house is located in Brooklyn Heights (1 subway stop from Manhattan or a 20 minute walk across the Brooklyn bridge). The house offers the best of a quiet environment together with the proximity of buzzing New York and forth coming Brooklyn.
The house is in a quiet tree-lined street, just a block away from trendy Smith Street and Atlantic Avenue with its bars, restaurants and designers stores (unfortunately a new hot spot for bus touring...).
The house itself was recently featured in Teva Deco (a trendy French TV serie) for its contemporary renovation and american artwork collection (we are active art collectors).
The house is a typical New York brownstone but was recently renovated with a contemporary flair (loft like open space in the first floor and some designer furniture). We also have a garden and lots of bird singing...
Our House has 3 floors. The parlor floor is about 1200 sq feet (about 100 m2) with a huge living room, a modern kitchen and a dining room that opens to a terrace (with another dining table) and stairs to the garden. Upper two floors offer 5 bedrooms and two bathrooms and another terrace from a bedroom with chairs and flowers...

We just love Brooklyn and our street...Lots of trees, front yard gardens, amazing birds and very few traffic. It is completly secluded from the noise and activity of Manhattan while at the same time just one subway stop away from downtown Manhattan (or a 20 minute walk across the brooklyn bridge...a must to do especially at down/night), and plenty of taxis (just raise your hands....). Subway transportation is just 2 blocks away (3 minutes walk at most) with the R, 4,5,2,3 or A, C, F, G trains... Being both French natives, we also love the convenience of local shops that offer any french products you want (cheeses, croissants, baguettes), high end supermarkets, local organic farmer markets held twice a week, the butcher, fish shop, vegetable and organic shops. But what made us stay in Brooklyn is the tremendous energy there (from designers places to restaurants and bars) as well as the local playgrounds (so many around which were great for our three children)....

We are a family of five (3 kids: 2 daughters: 17, 15 years old and a 10 years old boy). We are French and have been in NY for about 18 years... Before we had kids we lived in different cities in Asia and in London... My husband works in finance and I am an art gallery owner (which is why we have a lot of art works in our house)... I love the idea of swapping a house (even though the anxiety of swapping our main house is high...especially for my husband..but I guess that the right place will help us get over it !!!).
We want to exchange our house for 1 week or even more during the summer. We are looking to swap a big house as we usually invite our parents with us to have some bounding time.... Other holidays could work too (but would have to be 1 week/10 days school break: Christmas, February or April....).
