Spacious but cozy top floor of a two-story (with finished basement) house. Living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, office/2nd bedroom, bathroom. Direct access to fenced-in backyard, ample parking space on clean, residential, tree-lined street. Decorated according to my personal tastes: lots of bookshelves, soothing colors, calm lighting.
The neighborhood is typical for a quiet, pretty Chicago residential neighborhood: a great combination of houses, apartments, trees, a quiet street...and within easy walking distance, lots of stuff to do. Houses of various types, very kid-friendly with lots of families in the area, a very safe area. 10-minute bus ride to Lake Michigan; 15-minute walk to subway, direct transit to downtown Chicago. Adorable walking areas very close by: cute (and very good!) restaurants, the German cultural center, Swedish American Museum, and lots of other great things to see/do.
I work as a tour guide in Chicago (architecture tours on the river, and food-tasting tours), and I have a translation business that I do from home--I translate French, German, Italian, Latin, and Spanish into English. I am a lover of books, and my home is a testament to that: full of books, and always quiet and calm (except when my band comes over to practice every once in a while). True to Chicago's comedic tradition, I perform improv comedy at a famous local comedy club, and I enjoy Chicago's multifaceted dance scene; I especially like swing dancing.
I have a sweet, blind cat named Beppe, who acts like he doesn't know he's blind--brave as can be. If necessary, I can have him stay with friends/family while I'm away, though he is the best snuggle-cat you'll ever meet. Perhaps because he's blind, he likes to stay as close to a human body as possible when he sleeps--and that could be yours if you like cats! :)
