About our home

Our home, in SW Florida, is in a special place. Marco Island was developed in the 1960's and is the most southern community on Florida's west coast, just north of the Everglades. The wildlife is exceptional with pelicans, snowy egrets, and herons frequenting our dock, and dolphins and manatee in the bay. Our home is located on a quiet residential street with the water off our dock.
We have a SW exposure, with sun all through the day. With our two kayaks you can explore the canals and bays of Marco Island and get out to the open water within a 10 minute kayak trip.
Marco Island has a five mile beach composed of soft white sand. It is wonderful for an early morning or sunset walk. Shell collecting is exceptional. The mangrove areas provide shelter for the bird life as well as a variety of fish.
Our home is close to the grocery and liquor stores as well as several delis and fresh seafood. Each Wednesday a large open air market supplies fresh produce as well as fish, flowers and baked goods.
The Island is home to many excellent restaurants and bars many of them on the water.
Shopping is premium on the Island as well as the world class shops in Naples, just 30 minutes drive.
Night life is eclectic including everything for the "60s" pop to reggae to jazz, much of it live.

The Master Bed room has a king size bed with a large ensuite bathroom with a dual shower as well as a huge walk in closet.
The"Key Lime" room has two double beds with an ensuite bathroom with a shower and tub.
The "Pool Side Bed Room" is off the pool and has a queen bed.
All bedrooms have their own TV's and are very quiet.

The kitchen is part of the open air concept of the house where everything is open to the lanai. The kitchen has all stainless appliances including fridge/freezer, 4 burner cook top/oven, microwave and dishwasher. Two coffee/espresso machines and a juicer are part of our morning scedule.
An eight seat bar surrounds the kitchen.
Cook wear is high quality with plate and glass wear enough for service of twelve.
Our teak fresh air dining room table seats eight. Our lanai table seats four as does our sun dock table which doubles as a fire pit.

We have four lounge chairs around the pool and four lounges on the sun dock. The main room has large cotton couch while the living room has two leather couches surrounding our wood burning fireplace. The living room also has a glass table for four.

With our grandchildren, we are fully equipped for babies and children. The water and the pool can both be fenced off for safety. We have a huge collection of beach and water toys for small people.

Each bedroom has a TV with a DVD in the master bedroom and the main room. The TVs are cable with hundreds of channels as well as Roku. A high quality Bose sound system is in the main room and is Ipod compatible. We have an extensive CD collection.
The home is internet connected with WIFI.

Our home has air conditioning throughout. The sleeping areas are on one system while the main living areas are on a separate system to allow for cool areas if desired. As well, there are ceiling fans throughout all the bedrooms and living areas that create a constant breeze.
The two main bedrooms and the main living area are all open to the air by sliding glass doors. Because the lanai is screened, there is no intrusion of insects or other creatures.

Our garden lies between the house and the water and includes many palm types as well as tropical flowers and grasses. The grounds and gardens are landscaped once each week by outside help.

We have four bicycles as well as two kayaks and host of other games including a pool table. Walking is a favorite pastime of locals. There is golf and tennis within a short drive. Professional fishing boats take visitors out daily. Boats can be rented close to our home. The Everglades are a 20 minute drive and there are ample tours in swamp boats or walking tours where you can experience the everglades plants and animals (alligators).

Our garage holds our two vehicles: Nissan van and Mercedes convertible. These can be part of the exchange if you can reciprocate . There is ample storage throughout the home and garage.

We close the house up for hurricane season between June 1st and October 15th so it is not available then.
