“Kerry and Chris were extraordinary hosts for our stay on a forested hillside overlooking Lake Michigan in Cleveland, Wisconsin. Their home has soaring knotty pine ceilings in almost every room, plus the living room has picture windows on three sides facing the Lake. The kitchen is state of the art, and the master bathroom features a giant Jacuzzi-type tub. The grounds around the home are beautifully landscaped with a variety of flowering shrubs, trees, and thoughtfully-designed planters. They have obviously poured themselves into creating this comfortable haven and we’re grateful that they shared it with us. We enjoyed many fun and educational day trips from this location. Wisconsin cheese curds will squeak when you chew on them if they are fresh. Our trip to Hennning’s Cheese near Keil, where we watched them make cheese from behind glass walls and on videos, was almost a disappointment because I couldn’t find cheese curds in their store. Then I spied fresh ones being packaged and placed on the counter before they were refrigerated. I bought a bag and sampled them. One bite produced the squeaks of a dozen canaries to my delight. In Manitowoc at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum we actually got to tour a WWII sub docked in the water alongside the museum, similar to one of the 28 produced in Manitowoc shipyards. We studied an award-winning, and very disturbing, scale model of the Edmund Fitzgerald at the bottom of Lake Superior, the wreck which is memorialized in the Gordon Lightfoot song. Hundreds of other models and whole boats are on exhibit there along with detailed information about each item. If you can be quiet and respectful, you may witness the live birth of a calf behind glass, practically nose to nose, at the Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center a few miles away. Also there are scores of intriguing exhibits of modern agriculture in Wisconsin, including agriculture products you wouldn’t expect, like carrots, cranberries, and potatoes. The greatest focus, appropriately, is on the dairy industry. I was amazed to learn that 90% of Wisconsin milk becomes cheese. For quintessential Wisconsin pub fare, we enjoyed Rupps on Washington in downtown Cleveland, and Pack’er Inn nearby. They both had excellent Friday night fish fries, as do many area restaurants. Local wayside parks on the lake with hiking trails provided many hours of pleasure and exercise for us. We can heartily recommend the hospitality of our hosts, the comfort of their home, and the opportunities that surround them. ”

Where is it?
We are just minutes from the world famous Whistling Straights golf course. Kohler is a mere 15 minute drive. The cutest beaches best sea glass hunting is across the street at Hike Bay. We live right next to an nature preserve so deer, birds and wildlife are ever present. The sunrise and moonrise from our elevation are simply stunning. Our home feels like a spacious Hawaiian getaway and our yard an Italian courtyard. Friends and family gather here to relax and rejuvenate.
Our home is beautifully made with two stone fireplaces, an indoor stone wildfire pizza oven, granite countertops, large upper and lower gatherings areas. A large upper deck and large lower patio. Both overlook Lake Michigan. An additional fire pit in the side yard.
