Our Mid Century Modern home, built by Joseph Eichler in 1963. Unique features include an open air atrium at the center of the home, and floor to ceiling windows in much of the living space. It is a wonderful home to live in, and quite a peaceful place to vacation. The kitchen is large, with granite counters, and stocked with plenty of cooking appliances & tools. Although it is not our style (yet!) it is a very functional kitchen if you love to cook like we do. Right off of the kitchen is a laundry room with washer and dryer. The living room has a large HDTV, cable TV, Apple Tv, movie channels, XBox game system, and DVD player, board games, puzzles, cards, video games, books, etc. The master bedroom has a very comfortable king sized bed, and a door that leads right out to the backyard pool. Master bedroom has it's own bathroom, with sky lights, stall shower and toilet room. We have a guest bedroom with a queen sized bed, and we also have a portable twin bed stored in the garage which may be set up in the office and used for a 5th guest. We recently had our first baby, so there is a fully outfitted nursery. There is a second bathroom with bathtub and shower. We have a home office with wireless internet access. We have two mountain bikes, perfect for hitting the mountain trails nearby. The backyard is set up for enjoying the warm summer days here, with barbecue grill, dining area, chaise lounge and swimming pool. We have a bountiful vegetable and herb garden which we use for much of our cooking, please help yourself to our produce! We do have a cat who will need her food bowl topped off, but she is generally very independent, and spends most of her days lounging outdoors. We also have a wonderful dog, who will live elsewhere while you visit. We do not smoke, and ask that you do not smoke inside. We have housekeepers that clean bi-weekly, and a service that cleans the pool and tends to the garden.
We are very happy in our neighborhood. It is quite suburban here, although there is a BART (transit system servicing the San Francisco area) just a 7 minute drive from us. We live in a neighborhood that is all mid-century modern homes, and have become very good friends with most of our neighbors. We would be happy to arrange for some friendly neighbors to be available to help you navigate your way around the area, or answer any questions. Within a couple of miles (some within walking distance) there are multiple parks/nature preserves. One of our favorites is a 3 mile loop with trails, dog parks, ponds, ducks & geese, playing fields and plenty of friendly people out enjoying the area. There is also a grocery store less than 1/2 mile away, Coffee, Post Office, Drug Store, Gas Station, etc. We have put together a binder with guest information - everything from maps, the BART system, local grocery stores, restaurants, neighbor's contact info, etc.
We are a 35 minute drive or BART ride into San Francisco. We are a 7 minute drive to the BART station, where there is ample free parking. We are a 40 minute drive from Napa Valley. Laura's parents live in Napa, and we go there often and have loads of insider advice for visiting the Napa/Sonoma region. Staying here is a great central location for seeing many of California's sights- Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Napa Valley, Sonoma, and Santa Cruz.
We are a married couple, Chris (36) and Laura (35) and Lincoln (>1yr). We run a Mobile Application Design firm from our office in San Francisco. We enjoy an active lifestyle, biking and hiking the local trails, and running in the local parks. We love to cook, and grow our own vegetables in our garden. We enjoy weekend trips in California, and love exploring new places. We have been exchanging homes for years, and have completed 13(!!) exchanges throughout Europe, Central America and the United States. We have had wonderful experiences with each exchange, and have found it to be an amazing way to see the world and meet new people. We are very friendly, happy, clean and caring family.
