About our home

We live on the longest freshwater sandbar in the world! It is a unique neighborhood of beach houses and middle and upper class homes. Our house is fairly large with much yard space surrounding it, and a path directly leading to Lake Superior with a beautiful clean and mostly private beach. Our house is perfect for entertaining and is comfortable to be in. We have a full basement with a sauna, and the washer and dryer. On the main floor is the kitchen, dining room, living room, bathroom with shower and a bedroom. We have a piano on this floor. Second floor has three bedrooms and a bathroom with tub and shower. The view from the upper front bedroom is wonderful and the sound of the lake lulls you to sleep!

More about us

  1. Mary is a teacher (50), and Drew is a social worker (47). We are both musicians and love to travel. We have two children. Our daughter is an au pair in France and will be traveling with us, and our son is 17 and plays the guitar and the piano. We love to sail on our boat, walk on the beach and entertain friends. We are neat and clean in our living habits. This will be our first time exchanging houses. We are really looking forward to seeing France this summer.

Neighbourhood

Duluth is rated in Top Ten of "America's Greatest Outside Towns" by Outside Magazine. It is within driving distance of many charming local towns, such as Two Harbors, Ely, Tofte, and Bayfield. Minneapolis is a 2- hour drive away with many cultural offerings, and also the famous Mall of America. There are beautiful parks in the city, and Duluth is also close to many State Parks.

Many of the neighbors were born and raised here on Park Point and are friends. Others maintain homes elsewhere and occupy Park Point in the summer months. It is a wonderful highly desirable neighborhood (we have lived here twenty years), busy in the summer with tourists driving by going to the public beach at the end of the Point, but since we have such a large lot, it is quiet and private in the house and in the backyard. There is a tennis court, and a rowing club five blocks away. We are a twenty-minute walk to Canal Park, which has wonderful shops, restaurants and a beautiful Lakewalk. To get to our home, you pass over the famous aerial liftbridge under which 1,000-foot boats come into the Duluth Harbor to drop off wheat and other goods.
