About our home

Our beautiful Black Bear townhouse sleeps 8 and is located directly across from Purgatory Ski Area, a 20 minute drive west of Durango and is a perfect base camp for your vacation no matter the season.

Dressed up in West Elm and Pottery barn, our pet-friendly home features 3 bedrooms and 3 full baths and is the largest unit in the Black Bear development. The gourmet kitchen with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances includes a bar with seating that opens to the main living area with fireplace, flatscreen TV and dining table, giving you plenty of space to relax. The first floor also features a balcony with gas grill, a full bath and a 2- car garage with a ping pong table. Upstairs features the master suite with gas fireplace, balcony, double sinks, shower and jacuzzi tub. The second bedroom is a Queen and the third is a bunk room that sleeps four, with a third full bath to share, as well as a separate washer-dryer room. There is also an Amazon TV that allows you to sign into your streaming account in order to watch Netflix, Amazon etc. in one of the upstairs bedrooms.

Nearby is an outdoor fire pit and barbecue. An on-demand free ski shuttle delivers you to the lifts at Purgatory in less than 5 minutes. As our guest, you will have access to the Durango Mountain Club which includes an outdoor heated pool with slide/ hot tub and a well-equipped workout facility and spa. There are shops, restaurants and lots of fun summer activities at the resort including an Alpine Slide, zip line and mini-golf and as well as the annual Music in the Mountains each summer.

Area winter activities include downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, skating, sleigh rides, snowbiking and ice climbing. Summer activities in the Durango area include swimming, golfing, horseback riding, mountain biking, rafting, fly fishing, and of course fabulous hiking.

The Town of Durango is vibrant, friendly and charming, with outdoor cafes, great shopping, live music in the streets, horse and buggy rides, dispensaries, high class restaurants, craft breweries and a lively nightlife with a western flair. In town, you'll also find a beautiful 71,000 sq. ft. Community Rec Center ($6.50 daily drop in fee) featuring two pools, a water slide, racquetball courts, indoor track, aerobics/yoga studio, climbing wall and outdoor playground. A favorite summer highlight is the County Fair, replete with corn dogs, ferris wheel and games, all lit up at night. Floating down the Animas River through town in an inner tube on a warm Friday afternoon, the steam train whistle blowing- now that is the life!

Nearby attractions include hot springs in Pagosa, Ojo and Trimble, the Durango/Silverton railroad and Mesa Verde National Park which is not to be missed! Telluride is a two-hour drive and Moab a three-hour drive from Durango. There is daily commercial service on American and United directly into Durango/La Plata Airport, as well as the less expensive option to fly into Albuquerque, easily rent a car and make the 3.5 hour drive across beautiful Southern Colorado desert with a stopover at the Main Street Bistro in Aztec or El Bruno's in Cuba for lunch.
