About our home

Please note that we currently are not accepting swap or point exchanges due to Covid-19. Check back later in the year for any changes. We wish you all a healthy and safe Summer.

A minimum stay of two nights is required. Three nights for holiday weekends.
A maximum stay of two weeks is currently our policy unless approved prior to your trip.
We charge a $100 cleaning fee if you book via instant or with points which can be paid via Paypal.

Our home sits on nearly 15 acres of wooded mountain property in the Laurel Highlands of Western Pennsylvania. We are located just 20 minutes from Ohiopyle State Park where you can experience Class III & IV whitewater rapids or a relaxing paddle on the "Yough" river.
The town of Ohiopyle is a bonafide whitewater Mecca according to the Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine. Learn more:

Bike the GAP trail on nearly 60 miles of rail to trail surface spanning the distance between Pittsburgh, PA and Washington, DC or hike the Laurel Highlands hiking trail.

If you are a lover of fine architecture, visit the famous Frank Lloyd Wright homes of Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob just 30 minutes away.

Nemacolin Woodlands, a five diamond resort is under 15 minutes away with the Lady Luck Casino and the famous Mystic Rock golf course and don't miss the Woodlands Spa for an afternoon of relaxation and pampering.

History lovers will find Fort Necessity nearby where George Washington was defeated during the French & Indian War and the grave site of General Edward Braddock.

We are only minutes away from the award winning Christian Klay winery and Ridge Runners Distillery.

Laurel Caverns, located 11 miles from Farmington is a large natural cave. Most of the passage ceilings in its three mile labyrinth are between ten and twenty feet high (many as high as 50 feet) with an average width of over twelve feet. This makes it the largest cave in Pennsylvania.

Dining options are plentiful in and around the Farmington and Ohiopyle area with many of our area favorites close by, we will be happy to point you in the right direction. Once such establishment not to miss is The Historic Stone House Restaurant and Country Inn, located in Farmington. One of the original wayside inns along the National Road, the Stone House first opened its doors in 1822 to wagoners and travelers seeking renewed health in the waters of nearby Fayette Springs. Ever since those early days, the Stone House has been regarded by travelers and locals alike as a charming getaway for fine dining and good times in a peaceful mountain setting.

Up for skiing? We have Nemacolin Woodlands just 10 minutes away, enjoy the slopes at the Sundial Ski Lodge. Under an hour away, you will find Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Seven Springs, PA and Hidden Valley Resort in Hidden Valley, PA.

Perfect for a day trip, Pittsburgh, PA is located just 90 minutes to the North. In 2005, 2009 and 2011, Pittsburgh was named most livable city in the United States and in those years, between the 26th and 29th most livable city worldwide by The Economist.

**Come Home to Braddock's Retreat**

You will be captivated by nature as you drive the ½ mile gravel driveway into the woods approaching our home. After a long day of touring the surrounding countryside our home offers a quiet escape and a solitude that can only be found in the middle of the woods.

Our home features 2,568 square feet of living space. It will comfortably sleep eight adults. The main living area is an open floor plan and has two sitting areas. On one side we have a 40 inch flat screen television with DirecTV and a DVD player. Opposite this sitting area we have an additional area that is perfect for board games and reading. We provide a variety of games and a small book collection.

The master bedroom has a queen size bed, we also have two queen size beds located in our large loft along with a queen size futon. Extra sleeping is also available in our large family room located downstairs where we have two twin size daybeds.

Our kitchen is fully equipped with newer appliances and all of your dine at home needs. We include a Keurig coffee pot, a drip coffee pot, toaster, hand mixer, electric griddle, crock pot, blender, electric chopper, and Belgium waffle maker.

We have a covered patio area outside the front door and a fire ring for evening campfires, firewood will be provided for your stay with no charge. A small deck over the patio area with a Weber grill and small seating area is perfect for your morning breakfast or a relaxing glass of wine in the evening. Our large back porch will seat the whole family for dinner with a picnic table and cushioned outdoor seating area.
Paper products & soaps will be provided as well as an ironing board, iron, blow dryer and a full size washer & dryer. A wood burning stove is available for winter months with firewood provided November through March.

Downstairs you will find a two car garage which is currently being used as a game room with a convertible air hockey / pool table, a ping pong table and a corn hole game. Adjacent to the game room you can curl up and watch a movie on the 65 inch TV with surround sound, DirecTV and a DVD player or play some games on the Wii game console. We also have a movie collection for your use.

A few things to consider:
Our home is best suited for slightly older children because of the spiral staircase leading to the loft and other stairways.
Telephone and Wifi service is not provided. Please check your cellular coverage for our area, we have found that most cellular services do work so you should be able to use your cell phones and tablets with no problems.
Smoking is not permitted in or around the immediate vicinity of the property.
Pets are not permitted at this time. Excellent boarding at Nemacolin Wooflands is available less than 10 minutes from our home.
Guests are advised that four-wheel drive is necessary during the winter months.
Our maximum occupancy is eight persons. (This includes adults as well as children)
Property occupancy limits include day or overnight guests.
Check in is 4:00 p.m. and check-out is 12:00 noon unless other prior arrangements have been made.
