“Joie and Mikes house is the perfect mountain getaway, set in the beautiful Laurel Highlands of Western Pennsylvania. . The house itself is large yet surprisingly cosy with a wonderful "at home feeling". The kitchen and dinning area are great and have everything you need to prepare meals and enjoy them at home. Plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms that are comfortable and have all creature comforts you require. The ground floor den is perfect for a group of people to watch a movie or a football game together. The 1st floor living room is very well laid out with plenty of comfortable couches and chairs for people to enjoy each other company or just cosy up with a good book. There are also two balconies that provide great views of the forest. All the rooms are tastefully done with a truly fine eye for detail. Just a wonderful house! The area is just full of things to do from near bye state parks with white water rafting, to great shopping in Ligonier. Plenty of great restaurants and antique stores as well close bye. Pittsburgh is only 90 minutes away and makes for a great day trip. Mike and Joie are real pro's at home swapping and could not have been more helpful with information for our trip. Their welcome gifts of a bottle of wine (from the local winery) and cookies was great and their information book at the house was first class and provided us with all details we needed to make the most of our trip. In short a fantastic house, great area with plenty to do and first class host. Can't recommend highly enough and we will definitely want to come back. Thanks Mike and Joie for a great trip”
Mike & Joie's reviewsAs a host (4)
“Mike and Joie were the perfect hosts and literally thought of every detail to make our stay welcoming and comfortable! No wifi? No worries. Sometimes it's nice to be able to unplug and reconnect, and they sure give you the amenities to that. From their glow in the dark ping pong table, to the movie room, and board games, there was enough to entertain even the pickiest teens! The surrounding was like an enchanted forest with regular visits from hummingbirds, and deers, the sounds of kaytidids filling out the night air... truly a piece of heaven on earth! I would highly recommend Mike and Joie's property if you want to create unforgettable memories. Mike and Joie, thank you so much for trusting us with this masterpiece of a home. everything was organized and spotless, and your communication really put us at ease. If I could give you more stars, I would have! Thanks for the memories!”
“I have been an enthusiastic LHS member for several years with multiple swaps both in the US and abroad…..and hands down, Joie models the exact way we should ALL swap our homes. From the first communication, we felt like we were old friends coming into town as her house guests. And from the moment we stepped into the house, we continued to feel completely “at home.” Though the house is set a bit off of the main road, she provides detailed instructions for your arrival. We felt we were really away from it all and truly enjoyed being surrounded by nature and quiet. It was a great house for 2 families with separate sleeping spaces and a fantastic game and movie room. We did a lot of cooking while there and were so impressed with the way she stocked, organized, and labeled her kitchen. Every detail was attended to …. and she gave me some great ideas for preparing our house for our next swap. I can’t recommend her home highly enough. Many thanks Joie for your thoughtfulness, attention to detail and generosity for hosting us in your home.”
“We had the best trip to Mike and Joie's home over a long weekend! Joie was incredibly responsive, detailed in her arrival instructions and thorough in the information she left about their home and the surrounding area. Mike and Joie's home had everything we could need and more. Their home is very clean and well organized and the beds were incredibly comfortable. My teenage son loved the loft area and my youngest loved with Wii. Joie is a wonderful host and she went out of her way to make us feel welcome with homemade soaps, supplies for s'mores and more. We enjoyed playing ping pong, watching movies, relaxing on the porch and just hanging out during our down time. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area - we enjoyed a day trip to Pittsburgh, visited the United Flight 93 memorial, and visited Fallingwater. We hope to return soon and cannot thank Mike and Joie enough for making our weekend getaway just perfect! ”
