About our home

Our relaxed, family-friendly home is comfortable, clean and spacious. The main level contains an open, airy floor plan that flows from entry/music room to living room to eating/kitchen areas. Most of it has beautiful large Italian floor tiles. A six foot Petrof grand piano fills our music room (and home!) with beautiful sound. The kitchen features hickory cabinets, granite counter tops, a large dining room table, and all the cooking supplies and spices you might need. The deck is only a step away from eating and relaxing outside! Our cozy main level master bedroom is your retreat--complete with plantation shutters, rich coloring, comfortable queen-size bed, and five-piece attached bathroom. Come relax in our large soaking tub! The library is located in an open area in our second level overlooking the living room. Lots of good reading! Three spacious bedrooms are upstairs. Bedroom #2 has a tree-top view of the greenbelt, a double bed and attached full bath (which our teen-age daughter appreciates!). Bedrooms #3 and #4 both have full size beds with a full bath in between. Our fully finished walk-out basement is bright and roomy and contains ping-pong/game and large screen television viewing areas as well as my husband's office. Our guestroom (#5) has a queen-size bed, and 3/4 bathroom a few steps away, is also down there. We love opening our home to people and would like to share it with you!

Connie's reviews

As a host (1)

More about us

  1. We are Scott and Connie, a middle-aged,(did I really say that??!) married couple with four great children! Scott is a software engineer who owned his own business for 15 years, and has gone back to working in the high-tech industry. Connie is blessed to be able to stay at home keeping our kids fed and getting them where they need to be! We traveled a lot before we had kids. Our oldest three are out of the house now, but still may occasionally travel with us. We do hope to show some of the world to our younger girls too before they leave home, without having them be crammed into a single hotel room! We have thoroughly enjoyed our previous exchanges (see recommendations) and look forward to another one soon. We are open to non-simultaneous exchange if you want to be our guests.

Other notes, if you have a valid driver's license, you may use one of our cars if you would like to exchange vehicles. We have a 2017 Toyota RAV4. The '99 Toyota Sienna is also available for use if you need more seat belts. You can catch a shuttle bus from DIA directly to our front door and our friendly neighbors will let you in! Or we can exchange vehicles and keys at the airport like we did before, and also save shuttle costs... We have plenty of toys, games, bicycles, sports equipment, and other stuff! The neighborhood pool is also available. If you like to cook, or your wife makes you (!), you can use our outdoor grill, kitchen stuff and whatever ingredients you need.

Prior to traveling we have really appreciated communicating with our fellow exchangers via email or facebook to get to know one another and help make their stay as enjoyable and comfortable as possible.

Where is it?

We have lived in Fort Collins for twenty something years and can vouch for it's quality of life. Fort Collins has received numerous awards in the past years for "Best Place to Live", "Top Retirement Spot", and "Top Ten Best Places to Raise a Family" etc. Curious? Come enjoy the nightlife and microbreweries (we're building a reputation nationally and internationally as the "Napa Valley of Craft Beers") in our restored historical district, Old Town. In fact, several local breweries won Gold Medals at the recent Great American Beer Festival. Experience culture in our newly remodeled performing arts center, museums, and sculpture gardens, and many unique restaurants. Fort Collins is continuing to build a national reputation as an emerging music capitol. The quality and variety of free music on six stages at the three-day, city-wide outdoor music festival, Bohemian Nights New West Fest in August is unforgettable! Something for everyone! We also have other family-friendly seasonal parades and festivals. Try out the innovative bicycle lending library and take to the 60+ miles of trails networking the city, or catch a ride in a hot-air balloon we often see floating over our home on summer mornings. For the adventurous, our close proximity to the mountains provides excellent downhill skiing only 1-2 hours away. Other winter activities: outdoor ice skating rink in nearby Centerra during the holidays, cross-country skiing, tubing, sledding, & snow shoeing. Hiking up Horsetooth Rock, highest point of interest on the ridge just 20 minutes west of town, is a wonderful, nearby hike that gives excellent views of the city and Horsetooth Reservoir on one side and Pleasant Valley on the other. You can do boating, water sports, rock climbing, mountain and road bicycling, and fishing at Horsetooth Mountain Park. Worldwide tourist attraction, Rocky Mountain National Park, is a one hour drive. Experience the highest continuous paved highway in the United States, breathtaking (literally!-it's at high altitude!) scenery, easy or challenging hiking, and awesome wildlife. Wild and Scenic Poudre River Canyon (30-40 minutes) has great family hikes, kayaking, whitewater rafting trips, and fishing opportunities. Denver, Colorado's capitol, is an hour away and provides numerous other attractions. Check out some websites and plan a wonderful vacation!
