Freeport is a small town on the coast of Maine. It is known for its charming harbor, hiking in local state parks, and outstanding outlet shopping. Easy access to major cities including Portland, Brunswick, Bath will provide you with live theater, outstanding music venues and world class art museums. A large grocery store is about .3km and the center of town is about 1.2km. There are more than a dozen very good restaurants and friendly local pubs in Freeport; two are in easy walking distance. Walking or biking in Freeport is safe and commonplace.
Absolutely no smoking is permitted. We do not have pets but would consider a small pet of yours. Our neighbors are quiet and considerate.
We live close to the center of town, but in a residential neighborhood cul-de-sac. We like the easy access to downtown Freeport or to the major highway system leading to Portland, Maine's largest city. About 5km to the south is Wolf's Neck Woods State Park which has very nice picnicking and hiking on the Maine coast. About 8km to the north is Bradbury Mountain State Park with several hiking trails to the top of a small mountain offering lovely views. Birdwatching is common practice in most of these local areas.
Dennis works at LL Bean in Freeport. He is a Maine sea kayaking guide. He is a Maine attorney and a science teacher. He speaks some French.
Susan is a Registered Nurse who works in nearby Brunswick. Both love to camp, hike and kayak the lakes and coast of Maine. We also love birding.
We have been married for 29 years and have two grown sons. We love to travel. Now that our sons are grown, we are able to take the trips we have always dreamed of. In the past few years we have extensively toured major American cities as well as the National Park system of the United States. We have traveled abroad to Ireland and France.
In 2011, we returned to Europe to celebrate our thirtieth wedding anniversary.
We are a couple who have been together over 30 years.
We recently retired. Dennis was an attorney and Susan a nurse.
We love to travel and recently spent a year traveling the United States. Dennis loves to learn languages, Susan loves art. We both love experiencing different cultures and cuisines.
