My husband Peter and I(Cathy), are in our mid 50's. We are soooo ready to slow down and travel. My parents did home exchanges 20 years ago from their home on this lake. They had wonderful adventures and made lasting friendships. One fellow from Amsterdam ended up buying land and building here.
I am a psychotherapist and my husband is a teacher. Due to his schedule we will travel mostly in the summer though he does have a Dec. Feb. and April break. We plan to spend time in Washington DC first and then most anywhere and everywhere.
We have 2 (Sadie and Sweetpea)adorable dogs who take care of themselves, except for being fed (dry food and water). There are dog doors in the kitchen and "mud room" they go in and out of. They are only allowed in the kitchen and spend most of their time together in the woods.
We cherish our home (sanctuary) and would treat your home as such. We look forward to talking with anyone who is interested.
Cobbosseeconte lake, considered a premier bass and pike fishing lake is infused with islands to explore, and is home to the largest blue heron nesting ground in New England. 2 sandy beaches offer great swimming. We are located in central Maine, only 10 minutes from the capital city of Augusta. The area offers many hiking trails, the rail trail(walking and biking) along the beautiful Kennebec river, from Augusta to Gardiner, the Maine state museum, forays off the rugged Maine coast (only 40 minutes from many wonderful coastal communities and beaches), fine dining and antique shops in nearby Hallowell.
