About our home

Ours is a ranch style home in a small community. From the deck and rear facing windows we have an amazing view about 30 miles up the coast. We can see the light from the lighthouse at the most western point of the US as well as the local views of waves on the beach, the jettys at the mouth of the famous Rogue River, and planes landing at our tiny airport. There's a queen sized bed in the master bedroom with ensuite bath, but the ocean waves may disturb you. We prefer the front bedroom with king sized bed and door into the hall bath because it's extremely quiet. If you are musical you can play our antique Steinway grand piano, keyboards and other instruments. We also have several furnished homes and apartments available for non-simultaneous stays. Most of these are located in Brookings, Oregon which is a larger town 30 miles south of Gold Beach, just above the California border. None have ocean views but are a good base from which to travel. At any of our locations, we will make a vehicle available for your use.

More about us

  1. We are an older couple, no pets, no children, not ready to retire. But we love to travel. Were interested in Kauai Hawaii at present, but there are few destinations we wouldn't consider.

  2. Larry is a building contractor and property developer and Cher is a property manager.

Where is it?

Our neighborhood is small and very quiet. We have a number of resident deer that are fun to watch. Our home is on a hill which makes for a vigorous, though short, walk down to HWY 101 and the beach. The Port of Gold Beach is small but fishermen bring their catches daily to Fisherman's Direct store which is open 7 days. You'll see dozens of seals and Sea Lions on the road next to the port. A short drive takes you to many beaches including the much photographed one at Meyers Creek near Pistol River. The famous redwoods are only an hour south with many attractions including a cable car up over the big trees and to the ocean. To the north is a string of unique towns all the way to the Washington border. Don't miss the Columbia River Maritime Museum in Astoria. Inland, experience Crater Lake and a series of breathtaking waterfalls, the biggest of which is Multnomah, near Portland. The most fun you'll ever have (say our visitors) is a jet boat trip up the Rogue River (here in Gold Beach) where you'll see wildlife from bald eagles to river otters and brown bears.
