Greenwich is a bustling, cosmopolitan, riverside district close to the heart of the UK capital. Recently classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the many attractions of Greenwich include a historic Royal Park dating back to the days of King Henry VII (c. 1500), the Royal Observatory which marks the Prime Meridian ('the place where time starts'), the National Maritime Museum and the tea clipper 'Cutty Sark'.
Central London, with its extensive shops, restaurants, galleries and museums, is 20 minutes away by public transport and the castles and stately homes of Kent are within a one hour's drive. The coast of northern France can be reached in less than 2 hours by car.
