About our home

You won't find a better home base for your visit to Washington than our place, with three floors and a cozy backyard.

The house was built in the 1920's and has the standard floorplan of a DC rowhouse: 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths on the top floor, living room/dining room/half-bath/kitchen on the ground floor. We also have a finished basement featuring another full bath, the LP & CD collection of a lifelong obsessive, and a full home theater setup.

We have a central A/C system, a must for the DC summer.

We think Capitol Hill is the best neighborhood in DC, with block after block of charming homes, friendly and interesting neighbors, Eastern Market, Lincoln Park, the foodie mecca Union Market (just outside CH but superclose), and much more.

At our end of it, we are only steps from the most vibrant stretch of H Street Northeast, which has emerged in recent years as one of the more happening areas of DC. Great restaurants within walking distance include Maketto, Daru, Brine, Cane, Thamee and Toki Underground. Google them!

The eastern edge of the National Mall (site of most Smithsonians, memorials, etc.) is about a mile and a half (2.4 km) from our door. Admittedly our Metro access is not the best, with a one-mile walk to either the Union Station or Eastern Market stop. But we have a streetcar link to Union Station, and plenty of bus service. We are also open to a car exchange. Capital Bikeshare is yet another option, with self-service stations all over DC & NoVa, one a block from our house.
