About our home

We would like to exchange our Hood River country home in the famously beautiful Columbia River Gorge on the west coast of the US in the state of Oregon. The home has four bedrooms and an office with a standard sleeper sofa. The three floor home has three bathrooms and a wrap around porch with hot tub. Come and enjoy the stunning views of snow-capped Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams. The Hood River area offers world class wind surfing, kite boarding, skiing, hiking, biking, river rafting, fishing, terrific restaurants, theater, art gallery, wineries and shopping. The community is very kid friendly with a public swimming pool, children's park, public library, and dozens of other outdoor activities. Even summer skiing is available on Mt. Hood. Numerous alpine lakes and camping areas are within a short drive. A Condo also is available in Portland, 60 miles away and Oregon's largest city, which sleeps six. A vehicle (Honda hybrid) is available.

The home is located in a rural area 5 miles from the community of Hood River, Oregon. Night life in the area includes great restaurants, live music and movie theaters. The Hood River Valley, famous for its fruit orchards and spectacular scenery, is located between Mt. Hood and the Columbia River. Portland is only 60 miles away and offers all the amenities of any large US city. The drive to Portland follows the Columbia River, with waterfalls and hiking trails, through the Cascade Mountains.

We are two teachers who want to experience authentic European life. We are especially interested in Italy/Greece coastal areas. We have interest in cooking local cuisine, traditional crafts, history, and culture. We are English speakers.
