We are both retired professionals who are looking for a home for trade in Italy along the shores of Lake Maggiore, Como, or Garda for a 6 month stay (mid-April to mid-October) in 2009.. We do not smoke, our children are grown, and we have no pets. We are offering for trade our fully furnished home which holds 3 bedrooms, 2 ½ bathrooms (master bath has whirlpool tub and separate shower), big livingroom, diningroom, kitchen with breakfast room, sunroom, utility room with washing machine and dryer, and a 2-car garage. Along the entire back it overlooks a pool and the water of beautiful 64km long and 22.5 km wide Lake Murray (see www.lakemurray.com) and is located in the suburbs of Columbia, South Carolina, USA. Our kitchen has a built-in stove, microwave oven, dishwasher, and side-by-side refrigerator/freezer. Our home is only 6 years old and has a central heating and air conditioning system.
Columbia is the capitol of our state, and downtown Columbia can be reached by car in 20 minutes. Columbia is home to the University of S.C., and offers a lot of restaurants, shopping possibilities, as well as cultural and sports activities.
The beaches of S.C. (Hilton Head, Beaufort, Kiawah Island, Myrtle Beach) and the well-known historic city of Charleston are reachable by car within 2 - 2 ½ hours, and the mountains of South and North Carolina can be reached in about the same time. Well known places such as Orlando, Florida, or Washington, DC require a longer drive (about 8 - 10 hours) or can be reached, as can be any other tourist site, by plane from Columbia’s Metropolitan Airport (20 minute drive from our home).
Our home is located in an area known as Ballentine Cove which includes a small number of houses very similar in size to ours. Our view onto Lake Murray is fantastic, especially during sunsets. We are within walking distance of a grocery store, 2 drug stores, a beauty shop and a small pzza restaurant. A big shopping mall with numerous stores is within a 10 minute drive, as are many other stores and restaurants, as well as movie theaters.
I am originally from Germany, but have lived in the USA for 41 years. Before I retired I was a teacher of German and World History. I love traveling, reading, cross stitching, and playing bridge.
My husband was a pilot for the Air National Guard, later a banker, and then owner of seveal buisinesses. He also enjoys traveling, and loves to work on many projects around the house.
We both enjoy our circle of friends, going to the movies, or going out to eat.
