About our home

Our condo is located in the naturally landscaped, Wild Dunes gated community on the Isle of Palms outside Charleston, South Carolina. Charleston was named the number one travel destination in the world by Conde Nast Magazine for 2013 and 2014. This 1,218 sq. ft. second-home condo overlooks the lagoon and fourth green of the nationally ranked Links Golf Course. Often, an alligator can be spotted in the Lagoon. The ocean is a 5 minute/one and a half block walk away. This upstairs unit is tastefully decorated and consists of two bedrooms with each having its own balcony, the master bedroom has a king size bedroom suite and the other has two double beds. Each bedroom has a TV with CD/VCR and bathroom with tub and shower. In addition, there is a large living/dining room with two couches, dinner seating for 8, a queen-sized sofa bed, and large picture window; and a kitchen complete with ceramic tiled floor, dishwasher, electric stove, refrigerator, washer and dryer. The Lagoon Villa grounds provide a swimming pool, large deck along the lagoon containing swing and benches, running/biking trail, and ample parking. The beach at low tide is extremely wide (60-70 feet) providing packed sand for walking, running, and biking, as well as loose sand for sand castle building. If you desire, we can arrange housekeeping or laundry service upon your departure. We are open to all possible exchanges with emphasis upon Switzerland and U.S.A.. We will respond to all emails and will do everything possible to make your visit to Charleston as pleasant as possible. Occasionally, we travel with another retired couple.

More about us

  1. Bill and Barbara are both career educators. Barbara is a retired elementary/middle school teacher with forty-two years as a teacher and has special interest in history. Bill has forty-eight years as a teacher, coach, high school principal and adjunct college instructor of biology. They have a son and daughter-in-law in Colorado, and a daughter, son-in-law, and grandson in Ohio. Barb and Bill have an active life style including back packing and hiking in mountain areas, running competitively, and bike riding. Both have an interest in historical places (domestic and abroad), love natural settings and gardening, and enjoy meeting local residents in both cities and small villages. We have done twenty-two plus HFE exchanges in the USA and abroad, and all have been positive. We will treat your home with the utmost respect and care.

  2. We have hiked parts of the Appalachian Trail, rim to rim in the Grand Canyon, several of the fourteen thousand foot mountains in the USA. We are also interested in remote areas with hiking opportunities.

  3. Our home in Ohio is a 1880"s Victorian Farm House , totally restored, and sits on ten acres. Our furnishing reflect our love of history and our desire to visit historical areas. Our dream area is to visit the beaches of Normandy.
