About our home

We offer our home in the peaceful paradise of Jekyll Island, recently named the best place to travel in 2019 in the US by Money Magazine. You can read the article by going to and search for the "20 Best Places to Travel in 2019" article. Completely renovated in 2012, the house is very comfortable and up to date with beautiful décor and landscaping. It is our sanctuary in this magical place in Coastal Georgia. We have three bedrooms providing sleeping space for six as follows:
Master bedroom: one queen sized bed
Guest room: one king sized bed
Office: queen sized blow up bed
In addition we have two comfortable single cots to accommodate two more. So eight can comfortably stay here and get a good night's sleep.

There is plenty of room in the main part of the house for serving meals and entertainment for a group of 8 or 10. In back of the house is a patio with comfortable seating for a large group; and in front of the house, rocking chairs where you can watch the colorful sunset. We have three coaster bikes and two kayaks available for exploring the Island's beautiful bike paths and tidal creeks. Rentals for additional bikes of all types are nearby.

Our house is located one half a block from the bike path that circles the perimeter of the seven mile long island on the marsh side. It is a 5 minute bike ride across the island to the nearest beach, although there are miles of beaches all along the east side of the island. We have all the items one might need for a day at the beach including beach chairs, beach umbrella, towels, toys and ground covers that you are welcome to use. This is a paradise for families and children, while also a relaxing retreat for adults.

We take good care of our home and we will care for your home as if it is our own.

More about us

  1. I am a retired attorney and my wife is a retired occupational therapist. We have worked hard in our careers and in raising four children. We have left the rat race of the work world behind to explore new opportunities to learn new skills and hobbies and, above all, to relax here in paradise! We love biking on the Island's bike paths and kayaking the many tidal creeks. We have enjoyed three fantastic exchanges, and we look forward to sharing our home and this beautiful island with future exchange partners.

Where is it?

Jekyll Island is a state park. Only one-third of the Island can be developed, and the rest will be left natural in perpetuity. The Historic District includes winter homes of millionaires who wintered in Jekyll Island from the 1880s to the 1930. The island features many bike trails, kayaking opportunities, 63 holes of golf, many tennis courts, a pickle ball court, a history center, an art museum, miniature golf, a waterpark, restaurants, shops, and the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, which is open to the public.

But perhaps the most unique and alluring quality of Jekyll Island is the nature and wildlife that abound in our midst. Sightings of birds, deer and other wildlife are common; one can view gators, turtles and cormorants at Horton Pond regularly. The beautiful, huge live oaks with drapes of Spanish moss give the Island a unique character. The highlight of the Island are its 8 miles of beautiful sandy beaches, including the totally unique Driftwood Beach, with its haunting beauty. This is a photographer's paradise. If you are looking for a place that is yet untouched by development and commerce, you will find it here.

When you travel here, it is most convenient to fly into the Jacksonville, Florida airport which is a one hour drive from our home. St. Simon's Island and Brunswick, Georgia are 20 minutes away by car. From our home it is not far (1.5 hours) to travel to visit the historic city of Savannah, Georgia to the north or Cumberland Island (to see the wild horses), or the Okefenokee Wildlife Refuge to the south. Disneyworld is a three and a half hour drive south. See the website for information about the many other events and activities you will find on Jekyll Island. Money Magazine named Jekyll Island the "Number One in the "20 Best Places to Go in 2019" (in the US; find the article online). All we're saying is: this is a great place. Come enjoy all Jekyll has to offer.
