Custom designed home with large master suite and dream kitchen. Bright and sunny with lots of windows and skylights throughout the house. Very large kitchen with granite counter tops opens to both dining room and living room. Ceiling fans through out house take advantage of the Hawaiian trade winds. Mountain and ocean views. Tropical garden with tree ferns, orchids, bananas, papaya.
Ground floor has living room, dining room, kitchen, guest bath and a bedroom with a twin bed. Also on the first floor is the Master suite with king size bed. The master bathroom has a designer shower fit for a king. Master suite includes a two story sun room with treadmill, bow flex gym equipment and hot tub. The spiral staircase in the sunroom leads to a loft with a spectacular view and a queen size bed.
The main staircase in the living room leads to a sitting room and separate kitchen area upstairs. Three additional bedrooms and another bathroom are also upstairs. On bedroom has a double bed, another two twin beds and a trundle bed and the third has a double/twin bunk bed. Two of the bedrooms can open up to the sunroom loft if desired. At the present time we have the doors to the loft closed and use the second story as a separate apartment.
I am a mathematics professor at BYU Hawaii. My husband Kelly is currently finishing up a degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). We have five children but only two are still at home. Our son is just starting college and our daughter is a sophomore in Highschool. It appears that our oldest daughter and her husband will be moving to Belgium so we are interested in exploring the possibility of an exchange that would allow us to visit them summer of 2007.
We would also be interested in a short âget awayâ to any of the other Hawaiian islands â or even a âweekend escape" somewhere on Oahu.
We are in a residential neighborhood away from the tourist crowds, yet just off Kamemeha Highway he two lane road that circles the island. It is an easy walk to beautiful beaches. We are close to the mountains and a "stones throw" from mountain hiking trails. We live in Hauula - just outside of Laie Hawaii â the hiking trail featured in this website is in the mountains just above our home. http://www.discoveringhawaii.com/SF_HikingTrails/HikeOAHauula.html
We are two miles from the Polynesian Cultural Center and three miles from the Mormon temple and BYU-Hawaii campus. North Shore and Sunset Beach just 15 miles away. Honolulu is 40 miles away.
