About our home

Two storey home with gourmet kitchen, lots of open space. Many areas to isolate oneself, two one enclosed, one open patios. Situated on 3 acres at the end of a non-through street. Plenty of privacy, but very open surroundings, only 2 miles from main shopping/dining areas. Historic areas all very close. Very near the area where Pat Garrett, of Billy the Kid fame, found his own end. Nothing in New Mexico is very close but this area is within an hours drive of many wineries, White Sands - home of the first Atomic Bomb detonation. Close to Mexican Border and only 1 hours drive from major airport. The Summers are hot, but the low humidity makes the 20+ days of 100 F tolerable, and being in the high desert the evenings are always cool. Late Fall and Spring are the most enjoyable with warm temperatures coupled. Winter (Late December thru early February) can get a bit chily (10-15 nights where temperatures go below freezing- but then the day time temperatures are generally in the 60's F.

Very quiet, isolate yet close to every thing but requires car. Fantastic views. Neighborhood is small community with great walking possibilities. Very close to desert wildlife refuge and study area. Great neighbors but we rarely see them because all of the homes are on large parcels of land.

Jon is a pilot, former University professor and retired scientist; Julie is a retired University professional. We both enjoy traveling to far away places, but while at home we enjoy quiet dinners with a glass of wine, hikes in our nearby mountians, rock climbing and gathering, history and reading. We have lived in Kenya, travelled to Australia, France, Germany, Britain, Norway, Greece, Japan, Hong Kong.
