Our one-story, ranch-style home is in the heart of West Los Angeles, minutes from the beach, the mountains, Beverly Hills and many, many other attractions!! Our 2,600-square-foot home has four bedrooms and three bathrooms. There is a king bed in the master, a twin with a trundle in our daughter's room, two twins (one with a trundle) in our boys' room, and double bed in the fourth room. The master has its own bathroom and walk-in closet; the two twin bedrooms share a bathroom; and the office/guestroom has its own bathroom, as well. We have all the necessary toys, videos, etc. to keep children happy. The backyard is big and grassy, with a covered patio and an outdoor gas BBQ. It is enclosed by an electronic wooden gate that goes across the driveway near the front of the house. We also have a grassy front yard that faces our quiet, flat, tree-lined street. The ranch-style house was a semi-custom, built in 1952 for a man who was injured in WWI, and so it is handicapped accessible (with the possible exception of the master, which we added on a few years ago, and which has a narrower hallway than the rest of the house).
We live in a great L.A. neighborhood. Our friends say it feels like Mayberry, with its tree-lined streets and well-kept, ranch-style homes. But it is quite centrally located. We are four miles east of the beach and a 15 minute drive from Beverly Hills, UCLA, LAX, downtown L.A., mountain hiking and the heart of Santa Monica. It takes about an hour to get to Disneyland and about the same amount of time to get to Universal Studios. If you choose to stay closer to home, there are great restaurants (American, Indian, Japanese, Persian, Oaxacan, Italian, etc). within a few minutes drive, and you can walk to a Starbucks, Whole Foods, a couple of small cafes, and a local park our kids adore.
We are a couple in our late 30s/early 40s with three kids -- two boys, ages 12 and 14, and a 9-year-old girl. Bill is a physician; Connie is a writer and a stay-at-home mom. As you will see at our house, we love books, athletics and music.
