Our small house is situated on top of a hill over looking the historic gold-rush town of Murphys, California. The view is spectacular and our front porch is ideal for watching the sun set over the mountains. Our house is comfortable and tastefully decorated. The back garden is beautifully landscaped with a large waterfall, fishpond, fire pit, and hot tub. The house has two bathrooms, one master bedroom, and two bedrooms that have been converted into an office and art studio but can still be used for sleeping. Our house is equipped with all of the necessary amenities: dishwasher, electric stove, clothes washing machine, and television. We also have an antique piano and beautifully large windows that look out onto the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
We live in a quite neighborhood surrounded by friendly and respectful neighbors. It is only a short walk from the house to historic downtown Main Street lined with shops and a variety of restaurants ranging from casual dinning to gourmet meals. We enjoy fresh produce from our local organic farm every summer, and several local theaters provide wonderful summer entertainment including Theater Under the Stars, two Shakespearian pieces performed in a beautiful outdoor amphitheater surrounded by a picturesque mountain winery.
Murphys is located in the heart of the California wine country and several beautiful wineries are located within walking distance. Our house is perfectly located for exploring the Sierra Nevada mountain range and foothills. There are many opportunities for hiking and swimming in chilly mountain lakes. Yosemite National Park, San Francisco, and Sacramento can all be reached by car in two hours.
My mother is a retired teacher and I am a college student at the University of California at Davis. We greatly enjoy traveling together. My brother is working on his PHD at Oxford University and has recently fallen in love with a British woman. We would very much like to visit him this summer and meet the woman of his dreams.
My mother is an artist, gardener, and has recently become very interested in quilting.
I am earning my degree in Community and Regional Development and will be studying in Germany for part of the summer.
We are looking to exchange houses for ten days this August from 8/10/07 to 8/20/07.
