About our home

We designed our home to take full advantage of the Napa Valley lifestyle. It's clean lines and rustic contemporary style takes in gorgeous views from nearly every room in the house.

Huge great room with expansive views of vineyards and surrounding mountains. Spacious, modern kitchen well appointed with wine cooler, cook's range and more views! Luxurious master suite and en suite bathroom, featuring oversize soaking tub for two and a spacious steam shower with overhead rainsoaker. Wake up to vineyard and sky views. So refreshing!

You can whip up a gourmet meal prepared with ingredients purchased at our local Farmer's Market (Tues and Sat., Spring thru Fall) or dine out at one of our many, many excellent restaurants. Take your meals outside if you like and have a glass of Napa's finest (or two) on the beautiful patio furnished by Restoration Hardware. Or warm yourself at nightfall by our oversize, custom firepit. Take a soak and take in the amazing views at sunrise, sunset or at night under the stars in our new 6 person jetted outdoor spa. You will never want to leave ... but if you do, we are very close to town (5 minutes) and amazing restaurants, world class golf and spas, wineries, nightlife, and quaint downtown Napa.

Take a leisurely drive "up valley" to restaurant mecca, Yountville, then on to St. Helena to stroll Main Street and then on to Calistoga for a relaxing and invigorating world famous mud bach. Or pop over the hills to the cutest little town of Sonoma and enjoy an afternoon at "the square" and then on to The Valley of the Moon in the "other wine country" for some off the beaten path wine tasting. Head out a little further to Healdsburg and loop back to Napa through Alexander Valley.

Our home is the perfect jumping off point for daytrips into San Francisco, quaint yet sophisticated Mill or the spectacular northern California coast with it's rugged cliffs and breathtaking scenery. We are just a quick 3 hours to Lake Tahoe and five to Yosemite National Park. If you bring the kids and feel like doing the amusement park thing, we are 20 minutes from Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. This is absolutely THE perfect place to just relax or do a little of everything.

More about the hood:

Some yummy restaurants (just a few, too many to mention): Bottega, Ubuntu, C Casa, Ca Momi, Bistro Don Giovanni, Zuzu, Farm, Gott's

Shopping: V Marketplace in Yountville, Napa General Store, Helen Lyle and men's shop next door, Tay and Grace, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Farmer's Market (Tues and Sat, spring thru fall), Oxbow Public Market

Nightlife: Restaurants, wine bars, especially 1313 Main, Uptown Theatre for great live music performances in a lovingly restored art deco building, hanging out at our house drinking wine and listening to music outside.

Wineries: can't even begin to list them, there are so many nearby and more within a short gorgeous drive. But if you have never been, you absolutely have to do the Robert Mondavi Winery. Sonoma County is more laid back.

Spas: the Spa at Villagio in Yountville is "old world" and to die for, the spa at Carneros Inn is small but good, the spa at Solage in Calistoga is excellent and it's a really cool spot for eating, biking, etc too.

Golf/tennis: Silverado Resort is only 5 minutes away, Napa Valley Country Club is right next door (this is a private club, so check with us to see if you can use it), Chardonnay Golf, Meadowood in St. Helena

Now, for the highlights or our home:

Drive up the private gated drive lined with maples and old roses and you will know you've made the right choice. Our house sits atop a hill overlooking our own cabernet vineyards and the surrounding mountains with a peek at Napa Valley Country Club. Up here it's serene, peaceful and so relaxing.

Walk up the path through Olive trees, lavendar and swaying grasses onto the front porch and take in the view of Mount George and neighboring vineyards. As you enter you notice the light... light everywhere. Oversize windows abound. The great room features a local rock fireplace, expansive windows out the front and sliding doors that open on to the back patio and our vineyards.

Continue in to the kitchen and media area where granite and rich African wood warm the space with open shelving and top-of-the-line appliances, TV, CD, DVD, Cable, Wii and indoor/outdoor stereo. Relax on the uber comfy leather sofa and catch up on your favorite shows. More sliding glass takes you to the back (main) patio with seating for 8 and out to a smaller side deck with seating for two and our vegetable garden. A nice spot for a glass of wine at sunset.

Outside you will find several areas to gather: Under the twig pergola you can lounge on the Restoration Hardware comfy sofa and chairs, have a bite at the bistro table, or sit under the shade of our 150 year-old oak at the rustic wood table. Or recline on one of the Restoration Hardware teak chaise lounges and have a nap. In the evening, the custom 48" natural gas ignited firepit will take off the chill and extend your outdoor experience. Put your feet up, have another glass of Cab and say goodnight!

Beyond the kitchen in the quest/music room with piano and pull out queen sofa bed.

On the other side of the house are the bedrooms, entryway powder room, laundry room and garage.

Wander down the hallway to two childrens' rooms with adjoining bathroom with shower/tub. One room has a full size bed, one has a queen. Both are very comfortable and could sleep one or two people.

Up a half flight of stairs in the Master Suite. Light-filled and very spacious, featuring a Kingsdown king-sized combo latex foam and traditional spring mattress and soft "just like butta" Egyptian cotton high thread count sheets. You will sleep like a baby and awake to the sun coming in naturally through all of the large and copious windows. No alarm clock needed. TV next to bed, just in case you are so inclined.

The master spa bathroom suite has natural rock floors, limestone double counter and tub surround and touches of pebble and rock walls. Oversize tub with views and large shower with pebble floor. What a way to start and end your day!

We would love to exchange our home with someone who will enjoy it fully and in turn take care of it, and we would do the same in kind. Well behaved children and adults are welcome.
