About our home

We are offering for exchange our stunning 1958 mid-century modern home designed by Irwin Stein in exchange for 2-3 weeks in Europe beginning approximately 8/12/13.

Our home is light filled and beautifully furnished with all amenities. It features a living room with 24 foot windows, a three sided fireplace and a cat walk. The house also has a den with flat screen TV, surround sound and stereo. There are four bedrooms (one is a home office), two full baths, one half bath, fully equipped kitchen and dining room. Each room is filled with unique details and vintage furnishings, art and decor from the 1950's and 1960's.

The master bedroom has a king sized bed, fireplace, large wrap around windows, juliet balcony and private bath with tub. The larger spare bedroom has a queen-sized bed, and the smaller has a twin bed with trundle. The fourth bedroom is currently being used as a home office with desk, computer and internet. We do have an air mattress that can be used in that room.

The house is situated on a 3/4 acre tree-filled lot with privacy fence with two patios, a gas grill and gardens.

It is in a quiet, established neighborhood 18 miles from downtown historic Philadelphia. Wallingford (our neighborhood) is filled with families and is walking distance to a library, art center and golf course. Our town's downtown (1.5 miles away) has a few gourmet food shops, art supply store, theater, boutiques, brewery, as well as restaurants boasting farm-to-table, Thai, Japanese, French, Italian, Chinese, Pub and Indian Fare (Media, PA). There is a great health food store and farmer's market (in summer) nearby too. We have great neighbors who will make you feel at home.

We are offering our car (2012 Toyota RAV4), but if you don't feel like driving, our home is also located four houses down from a regional train that will take you into the heart of historic Philadelphia in 25 minute (with connections to NYC and Washington DC) for $5. We are also on a local bus line.

We also have two very sweet cats, Lucha (3) and Lincoln (1.5) who we hope will be welcome to stay in the home. We have a self cleaning litterbox that requires very little maintenance. We also have timed, battery-operated feeders if you choose to go away for a few days. Of course, we can investigate alternative care options for them if you'd prefer. We'd prefer non-smokers, or at least guest who will smoke outside.

We also have some houseplants and a few plants in the garden that will need occasional watering. We can arrange for lawn mowing while you are here. We can also arrange for housekeeping services.

I am an art history/museum studies professor and a vintage furniture dealer and am 38. My husband, Matthew is 43 and owns an interactive design company that works with museums. We'd like use of a car, but it is not completely necessary.

We are very excited!
