“We did not have a house exchange with Colleen and Jim this year, but we were able to accommodate them for a week and we very much enjoyed their visit. Colleen and Jim are jovial, modest and grateful people who we would recommend highly to anyone looking to have a home for exchange with them. ”

About our home
We just can't wait to get to our beach condo, our home away from home! We love to walk the white sandy beach, swim in the pools, body surf in the ocean, play tennis, bike the beach or in the village, or just hang out at the condo. The patio is great for reading, enjoying meals or snacks or just relaxing and watching the ocean. The large ocean-front sun-deck is also great for sunning, reading, watching dolphins or other activies in the surf. Our condo is a flat on the first floor with entrance, kitchen, dining and living area on one side, two bedrooms and two full baths on the other side. A Hallway leads from the living area to the bedroom area with the Main bath straight down that hallway, Guest bedroom on one side and the master suite on the other side. Master is a suite, including a long closet & hallway, full bath, and bedroom. Guest bedroom has two double beds and double closets, night stands with lamps on each side and between beds, and a large dresser. Laundry is not in the unit, but rather coin operated on property. Our home is well furnished for comfort and convenience, tile in entry, kitchen, and both bathrooms, carpet in living area and bedrooms. We face southeast, on the sunny side but also have a northeast view of the ocean from the back and entrance. Canaveral National Seashore is just three miles south of us, the longest National Seashore in the USA, with a visitor center and programs on natural history and nature/science education.

Colleen's reviews
As a host (4)“We lived in New Smyrna Beach in April 2011 and it has been a wonderful holiday. The home was clean and warm and Colleen and her family have been very kind to us all. We have had a wonderful and relaxing vacation which I can really recommend. Thanks from us all!”
“We enjoyed two wonderful weeks in December 2014 in Colleen & Jims lovely condo in New Smyrna Beach. Their house is nice, tidy and clean and have all the amenities one could ask for. The pool area just outside the doorstep is excellent, and the magnificent view of the Ocean is absolutely stunning! There is a large notebook in the house with information on things to do in the area, maps, restaurants etc. The location is good for day trips to Daytona, Kennedy Space Center and all the attractions and shopping in Orlando. There are plenty of State Parks around with natural springs, perfect for a swim or canoeing. Colleen is very helpful and easy to get in touch with by E-mail and Skype. We do truly recommend Colleen and Jim and their house for an exchange. Thank you for letting us stay in your home, we're so happy that you wanted to share it with us!”
“We spent 2 weeks in Colleen and Jim's very comfortably furnished condo, very quiet and convenient for sightseeing. Best of all though was the easy access to a wonderful beach, great for walking and being able to relax or dine by the pool directly outside the condo. A really different part of Florida to visit.”
More about us
-
We are Colleen(65) and Jim(74) with five grown children who live on their own. We are both retired teachers (June 2011) and are looking forward to many more exchanges, now that we have more flexibility for traveling. We experienced the once-in-a-lifetime experience of a series of home exchanges in Europe, beginning in Iceland, then Holland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, and ending in England for our first Home exchange experience in 2007. We've exchanged for vacations, for weddings, for long weekends, and more, some even for a month. Most recently, we completed a 5-month trip with Exchanges and cruises in Asia, Australia, & New Zealand, another once-in-a-lifetime experience, made possible by exchanging homes! We are hooked on homeforexchange and wish to experience more of the best vacations, ones where you live like the locals, care for their animals, enjoy their bikes, and meet their neighbors, etc. We look forward to exchanging homes as we travel and learn about other cultures. We hope to also provide these opportunities to our home exchange guests. We will respect your home as we hope that you will respect our home. Let's get to know each other and share the best ideas for the area where we will exchange!

Where is it?
Neighbourhood
New Smyrna Beach is one of the best kept secrets, located on Florida's east coast 120 miles south of the Georgia State line and between Daytona Beach and Cocoa Beach. Daytona is 20 miles away and known for it's auto racing (Daytona 500), it's drive-on beach and night life. Cocoa Beach is about an hour south of us and is near the Kennedy Space Center. We are 10 minutes from I-95, yet away from all the traffic and congestion. Fly into Orlando International Airport (75 minutes away), Daytona (20 minutes) or Sanford International Airport (30 minutes). We love the quiet and artsy shopping areas of Flagler Avenue on the beach side or historical downtown Canal Street on the mainland. Historic St Augustine, the oldest city in America, is just an hour north of us. Reasonable restaurants, grocery stores and department stores are nearby for any needs. We're 75 minutes from Disney World, Sea World, and Universal Studio resorts and about 2 hours from Tampa/St. Petersburg and the west coast of FL. We enjoy the real (Natural) Florida with Canaveral National Seashore just three miles south of us or Ponce DeLeon Springs State Park, 45 minutes away where we enjoy the all-you-can-eat, make-your-own pancakes in the Old Sugar Mill, swim in the natural springs year-round, canoe or kayak the river, and hike the trails among the cypress trees and Spanish Moss on the huge old oak trees. There are several other State Parks nearby with similar nature and activites to enjoy, including Blue Springs, known for viewing manatees in the winter months.
