About our home

Our apartment in lower Manhattan overlooks NY harbor and the Statue of Liberty. It is a short walk from the World Trade Center site, the Brooklyn Bridge, great restaurants of Tribeca and Soho, Chinatown. It is on the greenway, a biking and walking trail that runs around the perimeter of Manhattan. It is a green building built in 2003 - the first in the US. We are on the 12th floor, with elevators. You can rent zip cars in the neighborhood or make use of ample transit, including ferries from in front of the building, and bicycles.

We also have two personal mobility scooters, for people with limited mobility to enjoy the greenway. This is an ideal situation for someone with an elderly or disabled friend or family member.

Battery Park City is the safest and greenest neighborhood in all of New York City. It is adjacent to Wall Street and Tribeca.

My husband is a Japanese journalist and I am a writer/historian of parkways. We have lived in Washington, Paris and Tokyo. Our three daughters are students in the U.S. but spending the summer in Moscow and Stockholm. We are hoping to find places for them to stay in those countries (for short weekend visits) and offer hospitality in our home in Manhattan in exchange.
