“Everything about this was REAL.The swimming pool was really a swimming pool: we could swim laps, and dive into the pool. It is really near a lovely beach. The house is really livable (only if you are English will you really appreciate the home-made marmalade). Yvonne is a delight - we are really glad that our exchange was not exactly simultaneous so we had an opportunity to meet her. We are planning to meet her again.”
Yvonne's reviewsAs a host (2)
“We loved this exchange! Yvonne communicated with us on a regular basis and was clear and detailed. Each day was perfect. We even had a storm with lots of rain so the waves all along the North shore of Oahu were very high at times and very dramatic. The beach access from the house is down the quiet street and through a locked gate. The beach is lovely and pretty much private most of the time. Because the coral reef is off the shore, it makes the bay calm and pleasant for snorkeling and swimming. There is definitely an undertow one should be aware of at this time of year. There is a great deal of living coral on the inside of the reef to explore. The coral is sharp and cuts easily so please be aware, especially on the feet when walking through the water. The large green turtles were certainly around and came up to the beach to sun themselves closeby. The home does have stairs and the bedrooms are upstairs. The master bed is very comfortable. This a perfect home for one or two couples. Although the ocean is just a tiny peek view from the home, you certainly can hear it. The setting for the home is lovely with a large deck on the upper floor so enjoying meals outdoors is lovely. There is also a large covered patio area near the pool as well as a beautiful grassy lawn. In Dec./Jan. the ocean was actually warmer then the pool, although the pool was very clean and large. We loved our stay and would love to return. Yvonne, is a gracious host with a rich family history and talking with her is a delight! She will be coming to Lake Almanor in California soon and we look forward to sharing our home with her and family. I personally felt as if I'd met a new forever friend. ”
Where is it?
Experience old Hawaii far from the crowds of Honolulu and Waikiki. Yet, only a 40 minute drive to Honolulu. Or shop at quaint Haleiwa town - only a 10 minute drive away and called "The surfing capital of the world"
This is a very lovely and peaceful area of the island. The neighbours are terrific and will welcome you. There is swimming in the pool or on the beach. The beach is within a reef so you can snorkel or kayak there or watch the green turtles which come to the bay most days. The beach is a fifty seconds walk from our house and has its own private entrance
Nearby there is parachuting, hang -gliding, surfing and horse riding.
