Very quiet and exclusive neighbourhood, only about 400 homes. away from the main hustle of lake tahoe but close enough to get groceries and to shop (abt 15 mins from truckee, 30 mins from tahoe city). we are right before the donner pass to tahoe city, which means you are unlikely to get snowed in when donner pass shuts down due to bad snow weather.
in the summer, it is a great place to hike, mountain bike and go boating. Serene lakes is located 1.5 blocks away. serene lakes is stocked full with fish in the beginning of summer so you can fish. we have a canoe at the cabin to take out to the lake as you wish. we have houses to our left and back only, since we are located at a corner, there is no house to our right or opposite the street -- a larger lot on the block so you only really see the street in front of you, not to the right.
Mostly families do family gatherings at our cabin, we even had weddings hosted there. People are fond of bringing their kids to go snowtubing in our area, 100% of our renters come to enjoy the snow or the snowtubing for their kids. Serene Lakes has the highest amount of snowfall in the united states due to its altitude.
If you travel to mountain cabins with your prada shoes and LV bags, this is not the area for you. If you are comfortable with the outdoors, jeans and flannel, this cabin will be luxurious for a vacation. :)
We are a couple in our 30s. No kids. We are both programmers in San Francisco. This is our second home in the bay area. We rent this cabin out but visit frequently to get away from the city with our friends and family. We bought the cabin because we love to snowboard in the winter. We go in the summer to enjoy the sun and the quiet of the outdoors. The cabin is well-kept, clean and every neat, our housekeeper lives 2 blocks away. We usually provide a turn-down service (our housekeeper comes by and turns on the cabin before visitor's arrival, lights and heat) and is on-call in case anyone needs any help.
