My husband and I have lived here since 1996, when we moved from Greenwich Village in NYC. It is a community of artists, writers, filmmakers, musicians, and professionals--very friendly. Home is very private--you barely see any other house.
The house is one-of-a-kind. It was the original Dutch farmhouse of a fruit tree farm. It is white wood with black shutters surrounded by gardens and trees which will be in full bloom in May and June when we will be in Paris. We are on 2 acres of land --so it seems like the country, but it takes just 1/2 to get to NYC. The sun rises over the river and pours into the house all day. We are up on a hillside overlooking the Hudson River and the Tappan Zee Bridge. Sunset and moonrise over the water.
There are 2 bdrms and 2 full baths upstairs plus a walk-in closet and attic for storage. 2 complete studies/offices with great light; wireless internet; printers, computers, etc. Master brdm opens onto a large wooden deck with lounge chairs, table, and sunset/sunrise views. Shady patio off lovely large kitchen. Inviting dining room --comfortable scale for a romantic dinner a deux or dinner guests. Guest bathroom beneath stairs on main floor. Fireplaces in living room and bedroom.Large sun porch off living room. House is beautifully furnished with artwork from all over the world.
Full amenities--include dishwasher, clothes washer and drier, TVs, sound system, wi-fi, 2-car garage with internal access to home. There is a separate bedroom and bathroom with garden entrance--for one person.
It is like living in paradise --walks, biking trails, hiking, canoe, kayaking, and walking distance to town of Nyack or Piermont--both old towns on the water. With easy trip to NYC--many people here work in the city--we go in several times a week or a month depending. Spring is the best time of the year.
I will be a visiting Scholar at the University of Paris, East. So we will be gone for 6 wks.
