About our home

Swap your Brooklyn or Manhattan apt. for my 1 BR in Oakland May 13 to June 13 or longer. I can stay with family some nights so am pretty flexible.

Stay in my well maintained, quiet apt in a good area of Oakland, near San Francisco and Berkeley. It is on the first floor of a private 26 unit elevated building. Like most places in the East Bay there is no air conditioning because it is temperate in spring and summer. Also absent are the NYC humidity and mosquitos. My apt has a large entrance way, Brazilian cheerywood floors, upgraded kitchen and bathroom, and a balcony with squirrel and hummingbird visitors. See photos to get the calm feeling of the place.

It's close to beautiful Lake Merritt (much like Prospect Park Lake), the Morcom Rose Garden (glorious roses fed organic food ... see last photo...I am a volunteer pruner!) and the Univ. of California at Berkeley/Zellerbach Hall for music and theatre. Nearby are BART, AC Transit, East Bay bridge into San Francisco, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, good local restaurants, Chinatown and farmers' market. Piedmont neighborhood a few blocks away, has mansion homes fun to look at.

Location is good for exploring further into Marin county, Napa Valley, Armstrong redwood park, Half Moon Bay, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Big Sur, and Yosemite.

I'm low key, responsible, lived in Brooklyn for 50 years and visit often. I've been a home owner so know how to care for your place as you would for mine. Contact me asap.
