Out house has 14 room that are filled with art, antiques, and books, and many sunny windows. There is a great view of the mountains and down the coast, and it is 5 minutes to the beaches. We have two cats that would need to be cared for. Our neighborhood is nestled in the hills of S. Oceanside, just north of the bird sanctuary, but it is close to all kinds of shopping, restaurants, and two freeways. The yard is very large with fruit trees and landscaping. There are two cars available to drive. The city of Oceanside has a charming boat harbor, a long pier for fishing and walking, with a restaurant on the end of it, an old Spanish mission, and a lot of shopping an restaurants. It is just north of Legoland in Carlsbad, as well as many lovely and interesting towns to explore going both north and south. The city is about 1/2 hour drive to Dana Point where there are whale watching boats and a boat to the Island of Catalina. In San Diego there are many wonderful things to see and do: Sea World, Balboa Park with museums, a botanical wonderland, the world famous zoo, the Wild Animal Park. It is close to the Mexican border and Tiajuana, Little Italy, the Gas Lamp District, galleries, restaurants, nightclubs. Los Angeles can be reached in 1 to 2 hours and it has many great attractions, Hollywood and tours of movie stars homes, Disneyland, LaBrea Tar Pits (a dinosaur museum), many other kinds of museums, Universal Studios Tour, art galleries, Santa Monica Pier, Little Venice, and much much more.
The neighborhood is very safe and quiet. It is on a hill which gives one the opportunity for great views, sunsets and sunrises, the ocean and mountains to the east. This is an especially nice area for children with the beaches and all the places to see that have animals. Oceanside has a transportation center with trains and buses that go from here to San Diego, Mexico, and Los Angeles. The mountains can be reached by around an hours drive, and there are very quaint towns to see there, and sometimes deer can be sighted. It also has a beautiful beach with an amphitheater that has outdoor entertainment. Since it is just south of Camp Pendleton and thousands of miles of open country, sometimes wild animals wander through our yard, such as raccoons and opposums. Our house has many interesting things to see, and it rambles around and up and down stairs. There are decks to sit on outside, and the weather is usually very comfortable, often in the 70's F.
I am an artist, and so there are many paintings throughout the house. My husband designs medical education computer programs. He used to be an Anthropology professor, and he lived on the Island of Ios for 15 months, where he spoke excellent Greek and studied the culture.
I have two married daughters who live nearby and who would be happy to help visitors who stay in the house in any way at all.
