This is an all on one level home whose living room looks out on the woodland setting of this pristine area. Watch the local wildlife visit your yard, amongst the trees, hostas, and ferns. The birds that visit are cardinals, blackcap chickadees, finches, indigo buntings, hummers, and numerous others. The deer sometimes come and steal food from the feeders, as do the opposums, and raccoons.
We are located less than a mile from a publc access to Lake Michigan. The walk from our cabin to the shoreline is basically through a predominantly wooded area...with houses and cabins scattered here and there.
The house is rustic, with trophies of hunting hung on most walls. Decorated in a combined native american, rustic cabin feel. Lots of windows make you feel like you are living in the woods.
Although we are in a private neighborhood, it is only 5 minutes from a small town settled by Dutch immigrants, named Oostburg. We have a bank, grocery store, post office, library, and park. Most of your needs can be met here.
If however, you are in need of a bigger shopping experience, we are located less than 15 minutes from Sheboygan, WI. This is a fairly large town, with lots of restaurants, shopping areas, and it's located right on Lake Michigan as well....so lots of touristy places to visit. We are also close to Kohler, WI where The American Club is located (hotel, golf course, etc), as well as Whistling Straits (golf PGA tour), and Road America (car and motorcycle racetrack).
We are also about a 2-3 hour drive from an area called Door County, which has lots of tourist interests. This is an area settled by the Scandinavians because of it's fishing.
My husband and I are both 62, retired and interested in traveling. I also have two adult children who may or may not come with us if we travel. We have 9 grandchildren between the two of us (combined families). We would like to provide them with the experience of travel, and learning about other countries, traditions, etc. They range in age from 21, 19, 17, 16, 12, 10 (2), 2.5, and 2 months old. I am sure some locations would be more ideal for the younger ones and some the older.
I speak a bit of French, and Spanish. If I was in an environment where it is spoken I would imagine I could pick it up again in no time.
My husband is a hunter and naturalist. I am a naturalist as well, with an interest in ancient civiliztions, and indigenous cultures.
